Items to Inspect Upon Delivery

Drive it near a semi at hwy speed to see if the hood flutters. My roof was dented but everything else was OK on mine.

Good tip. I suppose that I should take it for a quick spin before signing the paperwork.

Roof dented? Did they correct that? Did that happen in transit?

The inverse of that question is so commonly asked, there's a sticky on it.

I see this is often asked. Haha Rather comical after reading through some of those posts. I appreciate the good natured response.

I left the roof alone since I didn't want the paint less dent jockey dropping my headliner. Mine was a dealer trade, apparently it was lent to the local HS for a homecoming parade. I envision some roided up jock pounding on the roof but idk. At a whopping 5' 7" I can't see it so whatever.. My hood is another story, it's worse than my JK!

A few more things:
Complete hardcopy owners manual. Mine was delivered without and took weeks to get them to send a copy.

If your trim level has factory defroster grid wires on the rear glass, inspect the wires to make sure intact. My 20 arrived with traces of glue residue on the rear window and somebody had tried to scrape it off damaging a few of the wires. Descovered day after delivery and still fighting to window replaced 6 months later.

Really i have no flutter in my truck hood my jk was brutal before i fixed it... is it just the hood bumpers that need adjusting?

I adjusted them, almost likes it's loose at the hinges. I need some Daystar latches for this!

Check all the fluids in the axles and transfer case if 4x4. The assembly line only puts enough in them to get it off the line. The dealer is supposed to top off during a PDI but they don't. Both my '18 and '19 where low about a quart on axles/ transfer case. Also check the gap on both sides of the tail gate. On my '19 the driver's side is about 1/4 inch, which causes it to hit the bed when flexing, passenger side is about 3/4.

The front License plate bracket will only be there if it was ordered. It's free but must be checked on the build sheet to receive it.
The tires are all inflated to 90 as part of FCA pdi so they do not get flat spots sitting on the lot. The sales guy is supposed to adjust them at the sale.
I took delivery of my 2021 4 days ago. The rear is low on fluid. It's 1 inch below the hole. I haven't checked the front yet.
Under the floor mats were very dirty. The dealer only took delivery 4 hours ago. The vehicle appeared clean but underneath it, there was rail black dust everywhere. After I cleaned it I had to paint a lot of frame and rear end scrapes that were already rusting.
The dealer managed to install stickers all over the vehicle for theft deterrent. If I would have known I would have told them to not do that. When you remove them they leave numbers behind. They also installed the advertisement sticker that I made them remove.

I'd have to check the service.manual, but I thought that some rear diffs were supposed to not be filled up to the hole?

How did they scrape the frame rails? That just seems crazy.

Worst that I've found so far is this trim tab not being properly bent over. It's the trim piece that that goes across the door sill where you step.

Oh, I did go through and I was able to push all of the fuses and relays I'm about another 1/16th of an inch to be properly seated. It surprised me.

Guys, Is this true or a bunch of BS?

I have no clue how they did it. It was not everywhere but enough places to take 3/4 of a can of spray paint. It has surface rust that started 10 weeks after it was assembled so I think the parts were scratched prior to assembly. The front suspension was scratched also. I just checked the fuses under the hood and they all were not pushed in all the way.

That's not true in states that require a front plate. My truck came with the front plate holder. ETA: maybe the dealers add them when required...

While DC indicates 1/4" below the fill hole, +/- 1/4", AAM has always recommended 3/4" +/- 1/4" below to prevent foaming. You guys are likely over filling them when they're already at an acceptable level.

I watched the entire series from Gale Banks on their development of their rear diff. I think in his videos he mentioned that the rear diff is filled below the plug from the factory.

Thats a load of crap and the total gap of the tailgate is less than 1/4 inch he is claiming to have 1” of gap total thats impossible
3/4 on passenger side. I'll take a pic when I get it back from the dealer after new front and rear cab mounts. "Supposedly FCA updated the updated front and rear mounts"? Dealer said I was going to be first to receive them. I'm skeptical until I see part numbers and compare them to the "new" parts that were installed on other folks trucks here. As far as the fluids, I have bought three new rams since '06. All three were well below on axles and transfer case. It took a quart in each to get it to 1/4 inch below fill hole. I'm only suggesting the OP check to be sure.
