Uconnect 12” not working

I have to leave the truck with Rydell on Monday, 11/2/2020, again. Researching Lemon Laws. It appears that after four failed attempts at repairs, Lemon Laws are available. This is really an issue if looking at new trucks.
Any update?

I have recorded videos of this for dealership who said they were filing claim with Ram to get new unit but 3 weeks and nothing. I can’t get the dealership to call me back with an update. So frustrating and angry. How can there not be a software update to fix these issues. Love the truck besides this.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Ryan

I have a 1500 Limited that will occasionally do what you describe and after shutting the truck off and restarting. I found the pressing the voice command button and saying view map or something would fix the issue. I do not know if it would work for you, but it's worth a shot next time it happens.

Hello everyone,

I just bought my Ram 3500 less than a week ago. I have had this happen 1-2x a day where I start my truck and no sound, no Bluetooth, no radio, no phone connected. I can not get anything to work. I checked and have the most recent Uconnect software 20.04.19. I read on other sites that this seems to be an issue and they had to get a whole new radio. I am beyond pissed just spent over 70k and have these issues.

Anybody else have issues or know of a fix, etc.
Hey I have a Ram 3500 just about a month old now and I was just informed at the dealership that they will be replacing the unit. I was told that they have had several issues and once the new one is put in, they haven't had anyone return. I was a little pissed as well. Looks like they are being damaged some how while being shipped to the factory.

I have a new 2020 power wagon and I have started having the same issue. My quit on me would not recognize am fm or xm it would place a call but I heard nothing. When I got home I came in for about 20 minutes and came back out started the truck and everything worked just fine. Then today the same thing. Stopped to make a purchase came bak to the truck started and said on the screen xm was loading for about 5 seconds then worked fine. I was heading out to show my new truck to a friend and when I left and headed home on go on radio agin..and my tire pressure monitors are not functioning either. first was the right rear and now the left front. I was planning on taking in for the t tire pressure thing now it has a radio issue as well completely pissed at this time almost $65k. This truck was a dream rig of mine and I traded an AVE JK 35 and my work car for this I hope I don't live to regret this purchase. I was torn between this and the new Ford F250 tremor, but I wanted a Powerwagon since I was a kid.

Well now the radio is working for now, tire pressure monitors not available until January. But now front view camera is not working...So far not the best customer experience and not making me feel very confident about this truck.

About two weeks ago, Rydell had the truck again for the Uconnect lockups and could not find anything wrong. They ordered a new Uconnect unit to replace the one in my truck. It arrived last week and I was going to take the truck in today, Tuesday, to install the new unit.

Coincidentally, last Saturday, the day after the new unit arrived at Rydell, the Uconnect once again locked up while I was driving. This time, however, the problem escalated. I pulled over and shut the truck off in my usual attempt to get the Uconnect working again. After several unsuccessful attempts, the unit went completely black and would not turn on at all. They truck still ran and the AC worked but the screen was completely off. I tried about ten times to restore the display/controls by shutting down the truck but it remained a black screen.

I thought that this was a good thing since the dealer now had the new unit to install and, obviously, something died on the original Uconnect.

I left the truck with Rydell yesterday to install the new Uconnect. Today, I was advised that the unit that Dodge had sent them was the correct/called for part number but it was completely the wrong unit. Swell. Another couple of days wasted. Rydell wanted me to pick up the truck tomorrow and wait another couple of weeks for the correct part to be sent to them.

At this point, the actual problem remains undiagnosed. With the new problem of the Uconnect black screen I am hesitant to drive the vehicle in case there is a different cause that could make the truck undriveable.

This truck began having problems 12 hours after I purchased it three months ago and it remains that way.

I called the RAM Cares Uconnect case manager, "Stephanie," who, of course was not available. I was advised by "Patricia," Stephanie's co-worker, that she had no idea where Stephanie was nor when to expect her back and there was nothing else she could do to assist me. Patricia was more useless than Stephanie if that's possible.

Rydell advised me to call Chrysler customer service again and not deal with their Uconnect section. I did this and finally was told by "Wayne" that he was opening another case in an attempt to expedite the correct Uconnect unit to be delivered to Rydell. I was told that I would hear from the parts expediting section tomorrow morning. We will see.

Probably none of the car/truck manufacturers are any better, but I can attest to the lack of attention that Dodge/Ram provides.

Of course, no one from Ram customer service called. I called again and Quentin told me the case manager, Diane, usually takes a day or two to research the case before contacting the customer. Diane was away from her desk at the time I called. I left a message for her to call me. Yesterday, Rick Guzman, the service manager at Rydell had told me that he would attempt to expedite the necessary part. He was away from his desk this morning and I left a message with Fabian in service to call me with the status.

This situation could be solved very simply by overnighting the necessary part to Rydell, if anyone at Chrysler wanted to pay attention. If there is some reason that this could not be accomplished, i.e., the part is not available, etc., then an explanation would be appropriate.

Diane from Ram advised that the part is scheduled to arrive at the dealer on 12/7/2020. If she sends the case to her expedite team, they may be able to speed up delivery to a week. There are no provisions to overnight a part to the dealer, regardless of circumstances. I offered to pay for the overnight charges myself. I was told that there is no provision for this to be completed within the Ram bureaucracy.

So, I will go pick up my broken truck once again. The third time. Thanks Chrysler.

I find this crazy. I worked in management for a large boat manufacturer for many years. Imagine the marine industry as independent minor league baseball...we had a lot of of has-beens and never-wases from the automotive industry. We were the Bush Leagues and still this would have been beyond the line of acceptability. This was within a large, bureaucratic public corporation so it's not like we were any more nimble than Ram. Just because there isn't a checkbox on your computer screen does not mean there is no way to overnight warranty parts to a dealer...phone calls and emails work wonders.

Like RamCares does, we monitored message boards and social media for "dock talk" and took it seriously...I can remember receiving emails with screenshots of FB posts and being told to make it right. Usually when things progressed to FUBAR and they were done talking to customer service....which was always a delight to handle.

I know Ram has had some recent turnover in upper management but some of this is just common sense. If your system is negatively impacting a lot of customers, it's pretty foolish to hide behind the system you control. I could arm chair quarterback all day but I won't rub any more salt in the wound.

A week ago, Rydell received the new Uconnect unit and I dropped my truck off again to replace the unit. Two days later, Rydell advised that they replaced the unit but were unable to get the audio to work. They have attempted to contact the RAM “experts” to assist in the replacement/repair but have not received a response, at this time.

Additionally, the truck has had a rattle/clunk in the front end on rough roads since I have owned it. The noise has gotten worse and I asked Rydell to see if they could locate the source. They ordered/received a new drag link that is possibly the problem but have not had time to install the new part yet.

The bottom line is that I do not have a truck for another week. This is the fourth time to the dealer for the same problem.

RAM continues to inspire confidence. They now think that the screen on the new unit is defective and that is causing the audio problem. Rydell has ordered a new screen for the new unit.

I've had my 2020 3500 Laramie alitlte over a week, same issues, spent 3 hours at dealership, they advised to drive truck a few days to see if it resolves possible updating issue, now it SiriusXM loading displays for a couple hours at a time which makes other radio or phone functions from working on unit. Then restart it loads then next truck restart back to SiriusXM loading all functions inop for another hour or 2, now MPH display starting to shown distortion in number sizes. Dealeship advised to bring back and drop off. This started at 300 total miles on truck. I have 900 total miles now.

My 2019 2500 w 12” Nav went into the dealer a few weeks ago with a crazy CAN bus problem. 12” display kept going blank, “Blind Sport Alert Temporarily Unavailable” in the dash display, loss of control of windows and mirrors. I took it in to the dealer and it was doing all this while he read the codes. Showed multiple CAN bus problems. Kept the truck for a day and drove it for 105 miles, could not duplicate, handed it back to me, said they did nothing. Today it started again with the “Blind Sport Alert Unavailable,” loss of mirror control, and now the seat heaters and steering wheel heater will not turn on. Also I can force the “Blind Sport Alert Unavailable” to annunciate by moving the driver seat in any direction. Anyone seen anything like this? @RamCares ? Could it be loose connectors under the seat? Wondering if I should have not paid for all the fancy technology...

I have a 2020 Ram 3500 Longhorn and my 12 inch display will attempt to load Sirius and say it is loading but will not let my audio work if I change it to FM nothing, Android auto nothing. Shutting the truck off only seems to work if I let it sit for at least 5 or 10 minutes. Had it at dealer and of course they couldn't replicate and no codes found. This has happened to me once a day for the past three days the truck has 150 miles on it. Frustrating, any other suggestions folks have? I tried the soft reset method but it doesn't seem to do the trick.

Finally got Mopar to send us a whole new radio unit. Installation is next week. It took many videos to show proof and constantly bugging dealership to get it done. Only suggestions I have for everyone else.

I've only had this happen to me three times over the last three months of ownership, so my experience sounds a bit different than others have reported.

However, somewhere here on the forum, someone suggested that by exiting Sirius before shutting off the truck works for them. I've been doing the same ever since I read that and have not had the issue repeat, though I can't be sure if it actually helps or if whatever underlying issue causes it, hasn't manifested itself within that time.

Granted, this is only a band-aid, and not a fix, but until I see something definitive, I will continue to avoid visiting a dealership.
