Placed a new order this morning.

3500 Big Horn CC SB 4x4 6.4

MSRP - $62,195
Sale Price - $58,344 (Invoice)
$3851 or 6.2% Off before incentives

They offered $35K for my Tacoma which is better than I expected. If that value holds til delivery I'll be pretty satisfied.

I have a guaranteed $1,000 rebate with Penfed and I can take whatever incentives exist at delivery. Hoping we have a truck month? Might be a stretch to hope for much given the limited supply.

So not a screaming deal by any means and I had two other quotes in the 8% range ($1000-$1200 less), but I went with the dealer that's 3 miles from the house. I had a good buying experience there in the past. I have a relationship. I know they will take care of me after the sale. And, most importantly, they took my order on a handshake and a signature. That simple act means something to me. The other two wanted deposits of $3000 and $5000 and used the term "non-refundable."

I don't feel ripped off and I didn't lose days haggling or driving half way across the state to pick up a truck.

Unless something has changed, I don't recall having to provide proof of any membership qualification and only submitted a non-FCA brand vehicle to get my $250.

Agree. I didn’t have to show anything either a year ago when we bought a Hyundai and got $500 back. I simply checked a box stating I was eligible. No clue if they do anything in the background to check in any way.

Ah, maybe I did?

Kind of like my wife renewing her DL online and checking the "I have had an eye exam in the last 6 months" box. Liar.

LOL

Was looking at 2500 big horn w/hemi. Here is msrp. Dealer said I could get it for $47,200. Seems like a good deal? I have not inquired further yet.

That looks great deal to me if you like the truck.

I am just starting the ordering process now, my build and price MSRP is $64,125. So far the 3 dealers I have gotten quotes from are at 59,770, 57,643, and 60,451. When you add back in tax and tags they are barely under MSRP. Not impressed. One dealer told me "selling you a 2500 at invoice is doing you a favor".

What kind of math are you doing that it seems logical to "add back in tax and tags" and compare that cost to MSRP? Those two have nothing to do with FCA or the dealer, and aren't worthwhile considerations when comparing comp purchases on here.

Its out of state so maybe they increased it to deal with taxes, paperwork filing, etc. I agree it seems like a lot. I just want out of my current truck and need to get a replacement here quickly. He said 8 to 9 weeks but not holding my breath. It gets here when it does. Dealers around me suck. Best deal I could muster without making this into a 1 week job with emails, calls, etc.

Gotcha. Maybe there will be some good incentives come delivery that’ll offset it or the market will be more in your favor then, too, and can negotiate it down.
Did they require any deposit?

Yep. $3k. Gave some BS speech about specialty vehicles like DRW trucks and SRT vehicles require deposit. I agree that time of year there may be incentives. Who knows.

Refundable or non?

No way in heck would I put $3k deposit.

Why? Unless I get sideswiped by a semi and I'm pushing daisy's I'm buying a truck.
I don’t know......maybe the fact they have my money interest free for 2-3 mos. $500 would have been my demand, as life happens and things come up. They can always sell the truck anyway. Direct order doesn't cost them any real overhead either. I have walked out on a lot of “deals” over less.

Funny how so many people have different opinions. Its common for people to pay 5k or more down payment when leasing a vehicle just so the monthly payments are less, but don't realize that money is completely lost if the vehicle gets stolen or totaled. Total cost of lease is the same no matter if you put a large portion down or not. I would never do that but have no problem putting a larger deposit down to secure an order knowing you'll be just slapping down a larger check at delivery. To each their own I guess.
