Thinking of buying a 21 3500. HO vs STD output and what about deleting?

Yup, totally agree, but I guess it doesn't have to make sense?!?
At the same time, not much we can do about it, and I don't want to find out how much it costs to get my truck "undeleted". :(

And it’s a felony. Serious jail time if they wanted to make an example. I deleted my 2012 3500. I don’t think I will my new 2021 2500. Mileage and power is way better stock.

You can't seriously think that the EPA is going to convince a judge to slap a felony criminal charge and incarcerate an individual for more than one year for deleting their truck?

Under Biden/Harris, yep. They went after HS Perf and got them for over 3 mill. And the owners had to pay a crapload personally.

I like how Americans justify things by saying more than 1 year in jail lmao

Nope. Check your laws. Removing emissions from vehicles is so,etching y9u can be heavily fined and sent to jail for.

Going to order my forever truck. Dont want leather so its going to be a heavily optioned BIg Horn. Cant decide between a SO or HO. Probably delete at 100000 miles. and have the transmission built if I go 68rfe. I dont hot rod at all just daily drive and tow.
So do I get the SO and have Garmon build me a 68rfe and have it tuned or just buy the HO with the Aisian? So 3000 more for Ho and Asian or save the money and do a built truck? What do you think?

Will order a 21 to get the CP3 pump and the options I want.
I am at a Dealer now. Salesman told me he ordered several new 3500 HO dullies and they do not have the Aisin transmission. He may be full of it but he told me having trouble getting the Aisin. Has anyone more info on this.

Did he show you an HO on the lot without the Aisin?

The reason it is said, is if it is a felony conviction, the sentence will be a minimum of a year (although may not serve that much).

My working at times with the feds, is they much rather fine the crap out of someone, and shut down the business, or seize the equipment, then put them in jail. I am no lawyer, but it seems to be an easier route.

He's full of it.
If you like, ask him to introduce you to his order person and go through the dealer build program with them. Get them to show you where they could order the HO cummins without ordering the Aisin with it; they cannot - it's a package and always has been.

That's what I thought, he's obviously misinformed or just got mixed up with HO vs SO.

I personally went with the HO and Aisin even though I’ll never actually come anywhere near its towing/hauling capacity. I can attest the Aisin shifts harder and is more “commercial” in feel than the 68 RFE. My final reasoning was that I feel the HO Aisin combo will be easier to sell down the road when the time comes.

I just received my 21HO It’s hard for me to tell if this thing shifts hard or not since i have been driving a 02 with a five speed manual for the last 350,000. (with the exhaust break off) When driving down the highway and letting off the pedal the transmission makes a roaring sound I am hoping this will go away in time.
As for fit and finish whoever installed the carpet in the truck needs to be fired! It does not fit to the floor and has air pockets everywhere including right beside the pedal which catches my foot to me this seems dangerous.

I am concerned about deleting a truck going forward. The NY Times published an article about a long term EPA study that found that deleted and tuned diesel pickups cause many times more pollution than factory compliant. They report that the EPA may already be more strongly enforcing existing laws and inspections. Also hinted at is new laws including those that may mean dealers will not be able to resell a deleted truck and would have to restore back to emissions compliance.

I have not deleted a truck for years; ever since they started using DEF the fuel economy has improved a lot, and almost every year the power ratings go up. IOW, there is less of a gain now than a decade or more ago. And, it's always been a bit of a slippery slope; it's easy to break stuff if you get too aggressive with a tune. Or your tune works great until that one time when you are towing heavy in more extreme conditions than normal... ask me how I know ;)

Given the EPA study, I am even less inclined than ever to delete a truck; it could end up being a very expensive proposition including fines and having to restore a truck back to a factory compliant state.

Of course, YMMV

Do you seriously believe the lies the EPA puts out? There is a reason they stopped using DEF in Europe many years ago due to it being more harmful than not having it and remember cummins can actually meet the federal emissions standards without all that garbage ... also a deleted diesel is still less harmful than a gas vehicle or a lithium mine for them electric turds on the roads today..... once my truck hits 100,000km i will be deleting it....

Too much tequila the night before your carpet was put in. Take it back to the dealer and make them replace it.

No I don't, at all. Just saying that as long as they make the rules it might get costly to not follow them. Agreeing or not has nothing to do with it.

My truck also has a large hump/air gap on the trans hump by the pedal.

Missed it on the PDI. Tried to push it in myself but it's not cooperating.

Almost every 20 I have driven also has the bubble or bump and or whatever we should call it. I’m assuming it’s a supplier issue with the molds for the carpet
