I would like to install OEM remote start on my 2020 tradesman. I have done some digging, and found that I need the hood latch sensor, at least one key fob, and the dealer to program the fob as well as dealer adding the OEM sales code (I know it can be done with AlfaOBD as well). I found an "all inclusive" kit that has the sensor and two fobs, and will just need a BCM flash. This kit was from allmoparparts.com, but there are several sources. PN is 82215841. The picture shows the older style key fob, yet they claim that it is compatible with 2019/2020. I have the push button start.

Has anyone used this kit? I have looked around on this forum, and the one lengthy remote start thread goes off on a bunch of non-remote start side quests.

You should have the hood latch already and its just a generic picture... why do you want oem though its got terrible range

Yes, that is the correct kit for 2019-2021 HD Rams.

might want to read this thread before spending money. It is long but worth reading.

Unfortunately, I do not already have a hood latch sensor, I already looked. I would rather have OEM than aftermarket.

I don't think you understood, I do not have a factory hood latch sensor, and there is no remote start on my truck at all.

Have you had an aftermarket remote start on any other vehicles before? I know a couple of friends that have and as the vehicles get newer, the more issues he has. With the new computer systems and trying to flash in new software, SOMETIMES (not all the time) it has caused issues. One time, he couldn't start the car at all. You said you did your research, just wanting to provide prospective.

I find the oem is useless standing beside the truck it does not always work my aftermarket is 2 way and works from 1500ft away

After reading your posts today about the poor range, I tried mine at my local Tractor Supply. I remote started as I walked out the doors of the store. Truck was about 250-300 ft away. Worked on 1st try.

I have 12volt solutions OEM add on and it works anywhere my cell phone signal is. Works better than uconnect

Anybody try this one? Good reviews on Amazon (doesn’t mean a lot sometimes)

it works by locking the truck three times and it senses that and starts the truck.

Requires knowledge of computers based on the Amazon reviews. That’s why I didn’t touch it, I don’t even own a computer.

Yes. 12v, flashlogic, compustar, idata start, etc, are all the same rebranded modules, and they all have add-on phone start capability. 12v is the most expensive, and requires you to either send the module back for second stage programming, or install it during their business hours so you can call them to do it remotely. The rest of them you can flash yourself. The Start X is the easiest one out of all of them to install. The computer part is easy- you just create an account, plug the module in, and flash it.
