I thought the HD 2500 and 3500 trucks were made in Michigan. Are they made in Mexico still?
When Trump was in office and started shaming American manufacturing companies for taking production outside of the US many car manufacturers started announcing plans to build plants stateside again. Some actually did it, others dragged their feet, then COVID happened. I waited to order a 2021 model because I was hopeful Ram would build them alongside the 1500s which are already built here...but it looks like we might be waiting a few more years, if it ever does happen.
I ordered the 2500 limited Diesel with just about all options on 11/3 and it was shipped as of 12/18 with an arrival date of 12/31/20 - 1/14/21
Wow, that’s quick compared to others here. I ordered the same configuration with a crew cab and short bed 30 days after you and got the same estimate for delivery. Which body style did you get?
Ram chat is working today? I thought only Mon-Fri?
I received an email from them on Saturday afternoon and a follow up Sunday night. Could be just part of the work from home environment they’re in now, but I assume they have weekend shifts as well to support dealerships and possibly roadside service as another individual pointed out.
I don't get it. My build is almost identical to yours. Only difference is crew cab vs regular cab, granite crystal vs red, and a few options you had that I don't. I ordered 20 days before you and I still don't have ETA.
Paint and cab are significant differences as they happen early in the manufacturing process. Vehicles are painted in batches, and different cab configurations require different frames and assembly jigs on the assembly line. If you were to compare VINs, even if the trucks were ordered at the same time, there’s probably a large difference between the sequence numbers.
Your getting further with ram chat then I am.. they don't even give me a code.. dealer said js but that was a month ago..ram chat tells me they'll check on it and then I get another email from Jeff who also doesn't have any info..
I was told they don’t see the code anymore, that they just see a status. I think Ram chat is trying to get away from giving technical/operational information because many of the people who call don’t understand it. Your dealer now has more access in their ordering system than they do. Maybe Chat managers or supervisors have access to that information still, but a couple Ram Chat folks told me they used to but don’t anymore. From a business perspective, that makes a lot of sense. Support is overhead and costs companies a lot of money; whereas the dealer is franchised and they're already making money on the vehicle in question, so they don’t need to be compensated for answering your status requests like a Chat representative does.
Limited, 3500 DRW, all options, except the all around cam sys. Delmonico Red, chrome all the way.
Can’t speak to a 3500 specifically, but the 2500 comes with the camera system if you get the Limited level 1 group. There was a little misinformation earlier this year as to that, so you may actually have it.
