Remote start added to 2020 Tradesman (SOLVED)

It's weird cause since the radio restarted itself on Sunday i have no problems unlocking the truck. So far 5 times in a row it will unlock right away

Have you disconnected your batteries for more than ~5 minutes at all recently? Not that a radio update would have anything to do with remote start, but which radio do you have? The only ones capable of an automatic over the air update are the 8.4” with navigation, and the 12”.

I have not but the dealer did I assume when they installed new wiring. My radio is the smallest one. 5" i think.

It was just told today that is the wrong one. It only covers the 2019s. That there is quite a few people having issues with 2020s accorsing to chryslers 1800 number.

All that remote start kit contains is a hood latch, the connector with two wires for the hood latch, two fobs, and some zip ties.
The hood latch part number in that kit is 68261143AA. The hood latch part number installed on a 2019-2021 Ram that is built at the factory with remote start is exactly the same.
The key fob part numbers in that kit are 68374994AC. The part number of the fobs supplied with a 2019-2021 Ram Big Horn that is built at the factory with remote start is exactly the same.
Technically speaking, remote start is “installed” on every single Ram, because it is a function that is built into the RF Hub. It just needs to be “turned on” in the BCM. All 2019 and 2020 Rams, optioned with remote start or not, are equipped with the exact same RF Hub.
The only thing the remote start kit does is gives you the hood latch that has the hood ajar sensor in it (since remote start needs to see the hood as closed in order to work), and gives you the fobs that has the remote start button on the circuit board.
Speaking of the hood latch, have you checked to see if your truck is already equipped with the correct latch using the photo posted earlier in this thread?
It’s getting really frustrating with the amount of bad information dealers are giving people that don’t know any better, and how much the FCA techs really don’t have a clue how these vehicles actually operate.

I don't know what to tell you Jimmy. Since the radio reset while driving I'm able to unlock on the first press every single time. Did not happen before.

Guess what part number shows if you search for "remote start" for a 2021 2500 or 3500? Yea, same.

I agree with Jimmy and he's the one fielding all the issues and providing help and guidance here. Super frustrating that FCA won't acknowledge there seems to be a problem with the RF hubs in these trucks.

I get how it works and what your saying. Just relaying the info that the dealership and chrysler has told me. I have a 08 gc and 10 ram and 15 charger also working as intended

I also believe the rfid hub is the issue none of 4 keyfobs works when it starts acting up

I’m getting my truck done on Monday, I ordered the key fob at the dealer.. do I only need to get the remote start sales code added or both that and the remote tailgate release? Thanks in advance!

Tailgate should work as soon as they program the fob. They only need to add code for remote starter

so what did they do to reset the radio?

Last thing they did is replace all the wiring from remote starter. But still it wasn't unlocking. That was Thursday last week. Sunday my radio reset while I was driving and since then it's been unlocking fine. Maybe just coincident.

All good! Everything works perfect, the dealer paired the fob and activated the Prod Remote Start sales code. Tailgate worked without any extra programming. I was then able to disable the “Horn When Remote Start” option inside the Door Lock settings on the radio.
