Ok Folks new to the Ram world, but not new to diesel trucks. Currently own 2008 Duramx truck.
I'm a bit confused some trucks on the window sticker indicate said exhaust brake and others do not.
I'm trying to understand how to get / order said exhaust brake.
Is this only with the HO Cummins Engine?

Is this an option that can be added via computer program at a dealer....I have a few trucks on the wish list, the one that is the cheapest does not have the exhaust brake the most expensive has the exhaust brake, when listed there is not a cost.
Looking on the build truck site RAM.com - the exhaust brake does not seem to be an option to order.
Very confused.....Looking to be educated.

^- what was said here is spot on.

2019/20 if it has a Cummins motor it’s got the exhaust brake. Regardless of trim or bed/cab configuration. They both have the “auto” and “full” exhaust brakes. They act differently when tow haul is on but it works in normal drive modes as well.

HO Vs SO has differences. The HO has the Aisin trans, larger injectors, different tuning but the internals are otherwise the same.

I've seen a number of build sheets and window stickers for Cummins powered Rams that do not make any mention of an exhaust brake. You'll typically see it for the LongHorn and Limited trim but not always for other trim levels even though it's there. The whole options thing with the majors is a dog's breakfast so I'm not surprised.

I guess more in the “optional equipment” line means they can charge 2-3x as much because obviously it says it has it where other window stickers don’t.....because it’s included.

Soon you’ll see “premium wheel bearing long lasting grease” just watch and it will be on a “towing package” so they can charge more for the package lol

I have the 2020 ram 3500 tradesman. HO 6.7 aisin trans. With no exhaust brakes. I'm wondering the same thing. Can you add exhaust brakes to the truck? I can't seem to find any info about it. I love the truck other than this though. No other complaints

Ok I feel dumb now ‍♂️ it's the switch to the far left isn't it? I thought that switch was for a manual regen or something. Looks extremely similar to the manual regen switch in the semi I drove
