Truck won't unlock after remote start

You can see your rf hub part number when you read the system ID. It will say ECU part number, and yours should be 56029864Ax. It’s the only part number available for 2020 heavy duty Rams. It would be impossible for them to have installed a 1500 DT rf hub on a heavy duty because the two connectors that plug into the hub are different, which would mean the entire body harness would have to be from a DT, also. There’s no way a body harness from a DT would work on an HD because most of the connectors that plug into the rest of the truck are different, and in different locations.
They just added another fob to the rf hub, which didn’t even prove or disprove what they thought- that the fob with the tailgate release button was causing the issue, because that fob is still married to the hub. Now they’re going to install another hood latch and wiring? I can already tell you that’s not going to be it. They’re wasting all this time and money with futile attempts, when they should just be replacing the $80 rf hub, IMO. At least, if they’re going to throw parts at it, that’s what I would have started with...
I have no idea why they are doing it this way. I'm not going anywhere till they fix that issue. Also I did laugh and told them same thing about the wiring not being an issue. Told him already if the wire thickness was the problem then remote start will not work every single time I used it.

I guess sometimes you just gotta shake your head, sit back and watch them struggle. I’m starting to see this same issue pop up across other forums, so it’s not unique to your truck or anything you did to it.

Had mine installed Saturday, I have used it a few times over the past few days and so far so good.
I had 2 fobs included. Mine was dealer purchased. The 2 fobs are the 4 button model (lock, unlock, start and panic). Unlike my original fobs the sides are silver vs black on the old ones.
I will let you know over the next few weeks if any issues persist.

+1 Since I've been reading this thread, and i think there's another one with the same problem, I keep thinking there was probably a run of RF hubs that went out with a wonky firmware version or something. Swapping out the RF hub would probably do the trick.

They ordered one and it's the one like yours with silver sides.

Wow , sorry I lost track but man there is a lot of information in this post. My truck is a bighorn with almost every option that trim level has. The remote start is factory installed. No tailgate release. I haven't taken it to the dealership yet, but it's going to be soon. It locks and unlocks fine till you remote start it. Occasionally it will unlock , but usually it puts up a fight. At least I know I'm not alone. I should also add that it doesn't matter which fob I use. Also there is no unlock feature on the exterior door handle.

They are going to replace the hood release and remote start wiring on mine. Time waisted but if this is what they want to do then I wait.

my july built 2020 Power Wagon does the same thing. Sometimes using autostart it unlocks instantly and other times it takes a minute or more. Frustrating when you do unlock it and it is warming up and you want to relock it and no go.

You have to report this to your dealer. They need to know there is a state wide problem with this. I'm tired already of all the trips to the dealer and still they try to blame something else. Or they know about the problem but don't have a solution as of now.

I have the tailgate release. I do not have proximity unlock option either. My truck usually sits in the garage so I have rarely used the remote start so it has not posed a real issue other than we were out of town and got a big snow dump so I wanted to warm the truck up while we were in the motel and then it would not lock so I hated leaving it unlocked in the parking lot.

normally I would, but I use remote start so rarely that I will wait until I have another reason to go to the dealership. Ramcare gave me 2 free oil changes so when I take it in for one of those I will mention it.

Maybe we should start collecting some info like what month the truck with a problem was built.

so today I went and tried it again. I found that most times on remote start it would take up to 15 or 20 seconds to unlock it and a bit longer to lock it. occasionally it would unlock within a few seconds but never lock within a few seconds. also trying to manually lock it would not work either with the door open. My guess is it is what it is and there will be nothing the dealer is going to spend any time on if there is not a service bulletin addressing.

That’s the problem. There will never be a TSB on the issue if people just shrug it off and don’t raise the issue with a dealership in the first place.

I guess for me it is not a big enough issue to make a special trip to the dealership and have to leave my vehicle for several hours or be told I will have to come back for another appointment only to be told it is normal or the tech could not duplicate the problem. In my case that would be likely as some times it unlocks right away. I will mention it when I go get my oil free oil change tho.

anyone get this resolved yet? I am going to take the truck back in sometime next week. complete BS 700$ wasted so far

Not yet. I will schedule appointment so they can replace the wiring and hood latch. Total BS but they won't listen to what I have to say

With the truck running, the poor lock and unlock performance is there weather or not my remote start was used to start the truck. I find if I want the doors to lock/unlock, I am better off holding down the fob button and waiting, sometimes for 3 or so seconds, instead of pressing it multiple times when it isn't responding. I am going to try to get my truck in hopefully within the next two weeks. Also I will say this again for Kristof, there is nothing you did to make yours perform poorly. Mine is 100 Percent factory, no mods whatsoever, and my remote start was built with the truck from factory. As a matter of fact, I am actually holding off on putting in the oem LED Headlamps that I ordered, just in case the dealer wants to blame my installation on messing up the remote start. Mine has been acting like crap since day one. Also My remotes are the same as Gcash81001's. 4 button.

Oh so much fun.
Mine is getting installed at the dealer tomorrow so this should be interesting.

This is getting ridiculous. I might have to contact the corporate about this.
