Advice For New 2500 Build

When I was working the dealerships on my order and it was down to three, I had one that simply refused to give me a number, kept asking me what other dealers were offering.??!! He kept making excuses about not knowing rebatres etc. I said I don't care about the rebates, just give me a price. After several conversations, I pretty much went off on him on the phone for not giving me a price. When I later received an email from the dealership on a follow up, I blasted them as to why I bought somewhere else.

FWIW, I did 100% of my negotiating via email, phone calls, and text before making an appointment to put in my order. The dealers that were willing to play didn't have any issue emailing me their invoice sheets. That said, I also called each dealership and asked for the email and phone number for their fleet or sales manager and dealt with each of them almost exclusively. One or two punted me to the "internet" sales associate.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, I'm going to try the sales manager route, from here and see where that gets me. I would really like to get a deal done before the end of this year.

I drove 2 hours to my local dealer, ordered mine cause they or anything on internet was what i wanted. Main hangup was longbed with 50ga tank that wasnt white. Had dealer give me tradein estimate and talked process/price. Didnt give a down payment but agreed on price (well better than expected before rebates) shook on it and picked truck up a week earlier than promised and my tradein was worth more than first estimate. Sometimes a BS session can help and if nothing else can learn people your dealing with, best car buying experience ever....

If you change the zip code on ramtrucks.com it will search a 250 mile radius of that zip code. I used this to search all over the country.
Was unable to find what I wanted so I ordered one.

Towing Technology Group or bust. Consider the lack of it a deal breaker, especially since you tow all the time with it.

I think there is a misunderstanding, I have a Kenworth I run my business with. It's most likely my pride, but I haven't even given the towing technology consideration. I'm not much of a gadget guy, I am constantly checking my mirrors out of habit. Looking at a screen to see what's going on behind me, just isn't for me. A not so humble brag, I have over a million miles without any accident or tickets, some of those miles are over dimensional/wide loads, albeit a small percentage(maybe 100k). I've dragged them across the entire country, into Canada and through major cities (observing curfews) all using mirrors so I may be a rare case.

How are the screens at night? Can you dim them down or completely shut them off for night driving? I'll most likely end up with the 8.4 screen.

Also It's October 3rd and I can't build a 2021 on ramtrucks.com, I guess that magical date was wrong. Interested to see if the packages changed. Hope everyone is doing well and having a good weekend.

The cameras will not stay on for more than a few seconds unless you go aftermarket block box (see NAVIKS thread).

The surround camera overhead view is great for parking in tight spots.

I've seen the pictures of the surround camera shots. Very impressive technology, the human brain is awesome, thankfully there are smart people out there coming up with stuff like that.

Your setup is pretty impressive, I'm assuming you do a lot of pre-planning so you don't have to back that sucker up. Are you full time traveling?

Thanks,

One does need to think ahead but we mostly go to a couple places, just an odd exception now and then.

I can back it up a ways if needed. Have had to get out of jammed up fuel stops, etc. It's tricky, but can be done. Just have to reset your backing mind's eye.

Not full time, just summer lake camping.

Yeah, the surround view makes the Towing Tech group worth the purchase, imo. Not just for parking in town, but also for maneuvering in tight spots around the property. Especially when some folks that like to stand around and direct you don't really know how to hand signal, or to check all sides as they wave you on.
