What did you do TO your RAM today?

Today, at 65,625 miles, I had the OEM shocks replaced with Bilstein 4600's. If I had realized how rough the truck was riding I would have done this long ago. Since this 2500 is my first HD, and my prior truck (10 years owning) was a Ram 1500 with 4-wheel air suspension, I've always thought it just "rode like a HD truck." What an incredible difference!

It's funny how new shocks make a incredible difference.

Why the 4600 vs 5100?

Why the 4600 vs 5100?
They are essentially the same inside. The 5100s are designed for lifted trucks vs 4600 are OEM length; and are silver instead of yellow.

I was wondering the same thing. I had the 5100s on my 1500 and they were great for that soft suspension. I was wondering if they’d be stiffer or about the same as oem on a 2500

Truck drives AMAZING compared to the lower profile 20s and ZERO rub at full lock. No more TPMS issues and dont have to worry about crappy Michilen tires anymore. Nothing against that brand, just not a fan of the tires I had and they had 60k miles on them

I had the 5100 on my stock height 2006 2500 4x4, when the shop l used placed the order for them they were asked if the truck was lifted or not to be sure to get the correct shock for a stock truck

@mdsonofthesouth Assateague island is one of my favorite places to camp. Didnt know you could camp on Chincoteague!

@Rockcrawlindude Im glad you are loving the borla! For what its worth 35 ft/pounds didnt hold mine in either. It would slip at the joint right in front of the muffler. I just adjusted it back to where it should be and then hit it with the impact driver and it stayed put.

We aren't in the park but the actual inhabited Chincoteague, Va. We can bike to the park really easily. So far did about 35+ miles of biking a d now sitting on a hike and bike only beach...sadly the flies and no-see-ums/teeth are out in FORCE! Other than that its amazing!

Never camped on Assateague but biked, swam and booted to it many times. We do camp near there at island resorts in Newark every August for the Marlin open (not me fishing but a family friend). Love the area fro. Fenwick to butter banks (not Oc or Va beach though).

Excited to share I finally got the full center console installed in my Power Wagon!

After going from a bench 1500 to a console 2500 this is one of the best improvements you can do!

Finally got around to doing the Trans Fluid and Filter service and was surprised to find 4 magnets in the stock pan.

Anyone else have that many from factory?

Maybe I got lucky and the previous owner was doing very early maintenance?

Thanks, brother. I appreciate you emailing me all those sound clips a few months back it helped me make my decision. Mine hasn’t budgeted at all since I cranked it down with the impact.

May I ask what specific Michelin tires you had on your truck? What specifically didn’t you like about them?

May I ask what specific Michelins you had on your truck? What exactly didn’t you like about them? I’ll be in the market for new tires on my 2023 2500 Laramie MegaCab at the end of the summer. I was considering Michelin Defender LTX M/S2.

Love your rig, and wheel & tire combo. For reference, my forged 18x9" wheels with 305/70 tires (see sig for full details), weigh about 92 lbs...

@ThankfulLutheran

Sorry I cant quote your message for some reason to reply. I had Michelin LTX AT 2 on my RAM on 20s. The reason I wasn't a fan was mostly due to being 20s, near bald and not a tread pattern I wanted/like. Nothing against Michelin.

Thanks! Yeah the stock wheels and tires were heavier, but the Cooper ST MAXX are definitely a heavy tire. This is my 4th set and I have put them through hell. I wont put another tire on my truck. But I will say Im quite jealous of that weight! Also glad to see another 305/17R18 HD! Great size and looks like it should have been the factory setup.

I recently did a trans service and there were also 4 magnets in my pan.

I don’t like a full/floor console personally but dang man you did a nice job that looks really good
When I bought the truck I was excited for the nostalgia feel of the bench seat + floor shifter (not that I had an option with the PW, since they didn’t offer the center console/electronic t-case yet)…but then I kind of realized what a colossal waste of space it is compared to the full center console in these 5th/4.5th Gen trucks. I had installed the 4th gen floor console (link), which improved space utilization by adding a couple cupholders and tray bins; but cemented that nobody was going to be sitting in that center seat

This thing is cavernous! But it also has a couple small cubbys for small things too, which is nice. Just gotta play around with it and figure out what and where to put things now.

I will say the only downside i see so far, is it is much more difficult to reach over and grab something off the floor on the passenger side.
