I know this is an ordering thread, but I'm seeing lots of pre-built stock 2026s seemingly sitting on the lots. Any idea if dealers are getting antsy with discounts on existing 2026s?
Discounts off msrp may vary from your local dealers that still use invoice pricing as a bargaining tool when the lots get full...but the majority of buyers on here are getting the "max dealer discount" at any time during the model year. 11% off MSRP is the baseline a buyer should be working from - more for a 2500 (Mark Dodge and Granger offer this on both stock and custom order trucks).
One (of many) reasons why trucks may be sitting is that there is only a $1k rebate currently on most of the trim levels. Interestingly enough, the tradesman trim has an extra $1k and if you're in the south, you'll notice some dealers offering another $2k off for Texas residents. More trucks will move when Ram ups the ante on the rebates across the rest of the trims and not just for someone in TX
Ordering is usually always better as dealer doesn’t carry note for a truck sitting on lot.
I ordered from Craig Benner ([email protected]). He used to work for Koon's and started matching the typical discounting done by Mark, Granger and Koon's. Its great to have options closer to home. The downside is for HD trucks they come via boat to Balitmore unlike via train for Mark Dodge. So expect to wait longer for a vehicle.Thank you, looks like after reading more on these forums, that Koons, Mark Dodge or Granger are some of the better places to order from?
Thanks for the info. So if I understood you correctly, the discounts for ordering are perhaps even better than buying something that's been sitting on the lot? Counter intuitive I suppose. Any pointers (or even links elsewhere) that provide guidance on the best way to order to receive them?
I wouldnt say that dealers like Mark Dodge will give a higher discount on a custom order vs a truck ordered for inventory (discount meaning actual discount off the truck and excluding any rebates). These high volume dealers like Mark Dodge, Koons, Granger, etc usually price both their orders and stock inventory the same...so it doesn't matter which one you buy, the discount is the same.
A truck on the lot may be eligible for additional rebates if they've been sitting for a considerable period of time ...that's the only way I see a truck on the lot being cheaper than a custom order from these dealers.
Your local dealer will likely charge you substantially more for a custom order because they'd rather sell you what's on their lot.
Once you find out exactly what you want, I'd get a quote from a couple of the "forum" dealers you referenced and then contact a couple dealers close to you...see if they are willing to match your "Mark Dodge/Granger/Koons" quote. Most won't even try, but maybe you'll have someone willing to play ball.
One last thing I've noticed, the volume dealers seem to give an additional 1% discount off MSRP if you're an Affiliate member. Haven't found a local dealer willing to also give an additional discount for using an affiliate code while selling below the "affiliate price"

I made an excel spreadsheet with options lists side by side between the trucks I was considering to get a better view of what I would be getting or missing between trims. Otherwise it's hard to compare them.As I build out various models on ramtrucks.com, I'm wondering how a 2500 Laramie with basically every available option package compares to limited with the same options applied. The Laramie maxes out at around 93K MSRP, and the limited around 102/103K. Are there any options simply not available on the Laramie no matter what packages I add? Basically, what does 9/10K get you with the limited outside of nicer leather surfaces? If there's a better thread or board to post these questions, just let me know.

I was comparing a Bighorn vs a Laramie and option package levels between them. What I found was that the only thing I would be missing by going with a Bighorn Level 2 plus was leather, and I don't really care for leather anyway. There are options that are only in the level 2 plus even if you go up a trim level. They have a way of making you pay more. For instance, lane management, adaptive steering and some other options I wanted are available in bighorn level 2 plus and Laramie level 2 plus but not in Laramie level 1 or 1 plus. So to get them you have to bump up quite a bit. Only you can decide what options are important to you.Did you note anything after doing the comparison? You can generate a PDF summary of a build, but it's all marketing garbage and doesn't allow for apples to apples comparisons. I'm just trying to find out if there's anything I can't get on a Laramie that I can only get with a Limited, aside from nicer surface choices and materials.
