My 2024 Dually build thread

I mounted it on the driver's side frame rail, where it stays tucked up and out of the way.

The handy remote is easy to use. Just punch in or scroll up or down and the pump instantly responds.

Im satisfied with the factory rear air on my dually, but I'd be lying if I said that level of adjustability wouldn't be VERY nice.

Understand-

Out of all my modifications on this truck so far, the remote air pump and the 7500# bags rank amongst my favorites.

Well, finally got around to reprogramming the BCM for the new tire size with Alpha OBD

My tires have a height of 34.57" which is equal to a circumference of 2791 mm

That all went just fine

Then, as expected, I got the anticipated Christmas tree of dash lights, which should have been corrected once I cleared the DTCs, initialized the ABS, and did a couple more steps.

Well, it didn't work.

I am guessing that the Alpha OBD will not work with the 2024 model year for the ABS initialization, so I am cooked. Admittedly, the instrument cluster is pretty to look at, but the truck has, like, nothing working. Considering the accumulating snow outside, it will remain parked awaiting an appointment at the stealership.

Oh, did I mention I have my Jeep Gladiator also torn down for another project???

I am surprised that it didn't work on your 24. Did you try it a second time?

I am surprised that it didn't work on your 24. Did you try it a second time?
...And a third
and a fourth
and again
and again.
.....

I even went in to update the software, but I couldn't find one, so I'm off searching and reading more to try to sort this out so I can get the vehicle driveable again.

Remember the days of points, condenser ignition, and zero electronics? My '91 12-valve didn't even need electricity to run!

So, a strange thing happened.

After several hours I went outside with a newly discovered procedure that fixed this problem for another person:

Reset ECU Initialization, cycle key (fresh start)

Static ECU Initialization,

Calibrated the brake pedal module,

Sensor cluster calibration, cycle key

Once I calibrated both of those, I cleared all DTCs in ABS and ECM.

Run clearing rolls information cycle key off and now has no lights.

Check for codes, and it's good now.

The codes I had were for the multi-axis acceleration sensor(G sensor) found it can also be listed as longitudinal sensor calibration.

Either I don't have a G sensor or the sensor cluster calibration is shown in the pic calibrated

When I switched the ignition on, the anti lock and ABS lights had gone out, like the thing had healed itself! I did have an CEL illuminated so I decided to run the above listed procedure. After doing so, I ended up just like I left off hours earlier with another Christmas tree. (Remember the old phrase: If it aint broke, don't fix it?).

So, I came back in the house and settled down to a plate of fresh spaghetti. I think I'll leave it until morning...

Fired it up this morning and sure enough, I still have the ABS light blinking...Off to the stealership.

On another note, since my caster adjustment is at the limit, I think I'm going to pick up new control arms before the upcoming alignment.

Anyone know anything or have any experience with these BDS arms?

Those are nice. I was thinking of grabbing a set myself.

Teaser- New Expedition One bumper just showed up

The garage is well below freezing. First chance I get when it warms up a bit, I'll get a coat of self-etching primer on it.

While the weather was warmer, I wiped the bare steel down with lacquer thinner, then applied a coat of self-etching primer

You can see the small dent in the factory bumper just to the right of the pintle hitch. I sprayed the salt and road grime off, but driving to the nearby dealership got it marked up again

And the excellent news is, first, the dealership was able to fix all those pesky dash lights and CEL quickly.

Next, with the speedometer calibrated and after some driving around town and on the highway, I saw mileage I had never seen before. 17.4. Later on, I had to drive 25 miles to/from town, and that trip netted me 17.1.

Before the Banks stuff and the 35" tires, I would routinely see 14.3 with a best in the 15's. I think I am in the sweet spot. Considering I have a 10,000 lb. truck, 6 tires, an AISIN, and 4.10 gears, I think this is pretty good. Makes me wonder what it might get for mileage with a full delete???

Holy crap thats a huge improvement in MPG. Kind of surprised, actually.

Yeah, me too.

Thinking about it, I had run the 255 (33") tire for quite a while without ever having adjusted the speedometer. So, I was actually looking at low-ball numbers. Now that everything is calibrated, I am seeing the delta from before plus the added efficiency from both Mr. Banks and the longer rollout of the 35" carcass.

Nevertheless, I am happily surprised.

Makes sense

The driveability of this modified HD Ram continues to impress me. The truck responds authoritatively, and the ride is very smooth. I spent a bunch of time idling around in the local town, doing the Christmas shoppers' traffic-jam thing. With a 15-mile highway drive on either end of that at 70 MPH, I still managed 16.1. That is a solid 1.5 mpg better than before.

Checking in-
No updates for quite a while, but we had the holidays/family thing. Then I got busy installing a supercharger on my JT Gladiator, building a front bumper for it, and having a new right knee installed.
I know, sounds like whining...
Whew...
So, the rear bumper is all but painted, with only the top coat missing. I am thinking of painting it in lieu of the previously mentioned bed liner.
With that, I'd sand down the front bumper and paint to match.

My outside rear wheels were gouged during the last tire install, so...??? Color change?? something subtle??? Still thinking

Beyond that, I want to add the BDS front radius arms

and

Thinking of a black add-on scheme:

That one I did with GTP. Hood is black, lower belt-line to bottom is black, and hood bulge also black

Whatcha think?
