When I ordered my Laramie I didn't get the gooseneck prep because I hated how my previous Ram's had 5 holes in the bed when I only need the gooseneck holes. So I figured I would add a goose later on and cut only the holes I must have. My need is for the ball to be removable. I was thinking of going stock so I have to cut 3 holes. Or if theres a way to cut just a hole for the ball and theres a more compact way to do the chains I am all ears. Anyway - since i didn't get the gooseneck pre I assume there is no structure to attach the factory ball to? So besides ordering the factory ball and the hook what else do I need under the bed to accept these parts?

The factory receiver bolts to the cross member above the axle. It can be bolted in after the fact. Get under there and look at the cross member.

But then you need chain attachments and so you'd need to add a pair of the puck mounting points too. They bolt on, but it's kinda what you're trying to avoid having three holes instead of five.

Thus, Curt or B&W is really the better way to go. Also bolt to the factory cross member but have chain loops.

Yep. I second on the B&W as the way to go for you. I added it to my 2019 2500 gasser and it wasn't too much of a chore. Do the turnover ball, that way the GN hole is always plugged. The chain loops will be exposed, but will stay semi-flush as they are spring loaded to retract when not in use. I prefer the factory GN prep package. The 4 spots available for the cleats give you a little versatility for other uses as well and everything is covered and semi-flush when cleats are removed. The loop chains on the B&W and other's will always be exposed.

As stated just go with the B&W. I’ve had both OEM and B&W GN setups a prefer the B&W.

Post a few few pics of the install if you will. I may go this route in the spring. I love my Companion 5th wheel hitch but I despise the Turning Point pin on our trailer. Going to give the Gen Y serious consideration as it appears to be the go to replacement on our 150 series money pits.

Take a look at the goosebox. It’s better than the Gen-Y in every way.

I’m not sure the Goosebox will fit to the monopoly Lippert frame on the 150 GD’s. I will have to dive deeper after the holidays.

The goosebox is the only adapter Lippert doesn’t void the frame warranty for using, so I would presume it fits.

Hearing a lot of You Tube talk about the MORryde GooseTech, anyone know if its any good?

I had the Curt system on another truck and really liked it, but the B&W is the more popular.

I just installed the B&W in my '24 2500. Installation was probably about 2 hours. A second set of hands in the bed is needed to get the bolts started after you drill the hole in the bed, other than that I was able to get everything done by myself.

I have a 2022 Laramie that didn't come with a gooseneck ball so I put a B&W in it. It was not hard and took me only a few hours and is very clean looking and the bed is very usable with the ball flipped down. I also have a 2024 that has the factory setup in it. I hate the extra holes in the bed but since I bought it used and will be putting a utility body on with a built in ball I do not care about!

Threw these on my factory system and absolutely love them, but if you’re gonna utility bed swap anyways, it’s probably a waste of 200 bucks

My '22 didnt come with the trailer prep. I added the B&W and love it. I also added this to get the connector in the bed of the truck.

Does this piggyback from the bumper location into the bed, or does the bumper one become not usable after this install?
