Does anyone have experience with the replacement aftermarket tail lights you can buy? Specifically I have the halogen version. Broke one of my OEMs yesterday. Wondered if the aftermarket lights hold up to the elements. Reviews state that they look exactly the same. With everything coming from China these days, may even come from the same molds just rebranded.

I switched to oem led a long ago amd they've held up like a champ.

I’ve found aftermarket generally feels lighter than OEM but do hold up to the elements just fine.
You can likely find OEM halogen used for less than new aftermarket due to the popularity of LED upgrades.
You could post a want ad here in the classifieds.

How about aftermarket LED units that plug into the OEM halogen/incandescent harness?

I have a set of Morimoto LED taillights on my 2024. They look great, work like a champ and have hung in there through rain, high ambient heat and dusty unimproved roads.

Ended up ordering a set of aftermarket since both have had some water in them for a time. Abut $55 total tax and all for the pair. Supposed to arrive today. If they are crap, I'll go to the local pic a part and just replace the damaged one. He said they had some but did not know the condition.

I plan to sell my truck in next year and buy either a Tremor or Rebel. Was leaning Ford due to all the issues at Ram but now they are back on the table since Mopar Jesus returned. Unfortunately my long time Ram dealer retired and sold out to a big dealer so not sure who to deal with this time.

Surprisingly, the new lights look exactly like the OEM other than not having Magna molded into the rear housing. Even came with new sockets, push pins, and the metal nuts though I reused all from the OEM lights. These have PMMA molded into the lens which is a premium lens material.

Depends on the situation. $300 + shipping and tax vs $55 for a quality light for a truck that will be sold or traded soon, it's a no brainer.

What year is your truck?

I've had good luck with TYC assemblies on a few vehicles. On one the surface crazed after two years, but I purchased through Rock Auto and their exchange process made using the lifetime warranty easy.

2012, it's done though
