No limited slip diff, but I want one!

I’m certain this question has been asked repeatedly, but my Google skills are lacking, and I’m getting older, so I’m reaching out here.

I have a 2024 Night Edition Cummins 2500 with a standard axle. If I had known that when I bought it, I wouldn’t have. Now, my mistake is going to cost me. I’ve built several hotrods over the years and have a well-equipped shop. However, I’ve never trusted myself to set up a rear end.

I’ve noticed several low-mileage full rear ends with limited slip and a locker on eBay. I’m not sure if they’re actually LSD and a locker, but that’s what they claim to be. I’ve also looked for aftermarket drop-in solutions, but I only see either LDS or a locker, not both, to fit my housing.

I really want both, so is there a drop-in option for the 11.5-inch differential I have, or do I need to buy the factory 2500 rear assembly?

I hope this makes sense.

I’ve never seen a combo. It’s either limited slip or locker. There are drop in lockers available. They just replace the spider gears. Check out PowerTrax by Richmond gear. Don’t know if they have one for that diff.

Seems like I read that the newer (?2022?) PowerWagons and the Rebels started using the same rear axle as the 4.5 gen 2500s but with the locker. The older PW used a different 11.5”. I think the 4.5 gen regular 2500s use the same axle housing as the 3500s but with a 11.5” ring gear.

If that’s true then a PW/Rebel rear axle might be a good option to get both a LSD and Locker.

I still haven’t done anything to my truck and it has the factory LSD.

I had a Detroit Truetrac in my 2005 Ram 1500. It was the best of both worlds, "automatic locker". Had great traction on and off road.

This link may not be the exact part # but I'm willing to bet they make one for our trucks

@Theiskell This is what I put into my 2022, I did the same thing where I bought the truck and realized that it was an open rear end, which here in Missouri can be a fun time during winter. The Truetrac I put in has been wonderful to me so far, about 10k miles on it and no issues.

Our 2024 Ram 3500 4x4 Cummins has the rear LSD here in the Rockies. It gets stuck in winter coming up our private steep road grade. Our 2016 Ram Power Wagon comes to the rescue. Get the rear LSD with the locker.

Thank you all for the replies, If it's possible I really want to stick to a LSD and locker. Ive had LSD's in the past and like them but there are those moments. So what is the likely hood of being able to install a rear out of the rebel or power wagon without needing to fab elaborate brackets and so on. The full rear ends on eBay look like they just drop them out of these trucks complete. I dont mind paying the money IF I can do this like the factory. Im not a fan of cobbling things together. I would just go with the drop in LSD chunk in that case.
P.S Wiring a switch for the locker Im pretty sure thats within my wheel house.
