Thanks for the add to your forum. I recently bought a 2025 3500 Cummins SRW Big Horn with the 5er prep group to pull a ~12k lb dry 5er, GVWR is ~15k. I have been towing camping trailers in the 6-7k lb range for about 6 years with a 2019 Tundra and have owned a Toyota truck for about the last 20 years, so lots to learn. If you have any advice or tips I am receptive. Retired, fishing and camping and full time lackey for the Mrs.. See you in the threads.

I probably should have added that this truck will be dedicated to towing and hauling so maybe 4k miles/yr. I have a car for trips to the grocery and home improvement stores.

Welcome aboard ! I pulled a 15 k( loaded weight ) for 12 years . If it is in your budget get a air 5 th wheel or some type of pin box to lessen the shock . Easier on the truck , trailer and you . 5th wheels respond a little slower than bumper pulls when backing up don’t oversteer . Be sure you visually inspect the hitch is locked and give it a tug . Keep your eyes up when traveling back roads for low branches . Know your exact height , don’t assume . Get a truckers Atlas , you can buy one at any truck stop . It will show all the low bridges on state roads by state . GPS is fine but an Atlas doesn’t need power and you get a better picture of your route . Have Fun !

He dealer will be installing a Gen Y gooseneck which does have dampening and is supposedly lighter, as it just requires a ball in the bed. My truck
had the 5th wheel prep package. I have watched videos that show you lift the camper to ensure a secure connection. Thanks for the tips on adjusting to the increased height as well as turning dynamics.

Most here will recommend the Reese Goosebox over the Gen-Y for adjustability.
