Your gun is poop

I have to share this because it made my special little brain very happy.

When I chopped the handguard on this beater shorty I ended up with a single m lok slot and 1/3 of another m lok slot at the bottom of the handguard, which was pretty useless

Maybe I haven’t been paying attention to all the accessories available But I found this cheap aluminum hand stop that only used 1 mlok screw but still had a locating pin. It freaking fits perfectly and that just tickles my pickle

Mine is reliable and accurate now. Initially I was very unhappy with the FTE problem. I found the issue was a faulty extractor. S&W sent me a new one, I installed it, and the firearm has been super reliable ever since.

Serious question: why the 6" barrel?

I have been doing research into my first SBR build and it seems like 10.5" is the "sweet spot" but I'm curious to hear about folks that are actually using their SBR builds.

Maybe due to handling characteristics with the can installed? IDK. I went with the 10.5", but mine is horribly loud and obnoxious with no can.

It’s 9mm. The reason it has a pmag is because i have some endomags to feed it with. Would’ve taken a close eye to notice the lack of a gas block so I should’ve mentioned it was 9mm earlier if I didn’t. It runs super good and it’s a lot of fun.

My short 5.56 is 11.5”. I don’t think there is much reason to go shorter than 10 or so on a 5.56.

My 9mm has a 10.5", with the can it's at 16"ish so it feels like a standard size carbine.

I didn't even notice the missing gas block. Nice build.

Only problem is its an AR platform weapon. As a Marine issued an A1, after having an M14, I'll pass.

Since the A2 in 1983, the AR platform has proven reliable. The introduction of mid length gas systems for appropriate length barrels has helped.

All my guns run flawlessly, both suppressed and not. Sometimes you gotta tune em a little so knowledge is key. Otherwise, they'd be sent down the road.

My "battle rifle" is a silenced Sig 716P piston gun that (now) eats anything with the can on or off. The first one was a jam-o-matic when suppressed and Sig replaced it with a redesigned model.

Thx. I really enjoy it. think the hydraulic buffer is really what makes it such a pleasant experience.
This can in long config is about 8” and is quieter but it looks more proportionate in short config.
I had it set up with a long fat handguard and the can tucked under the handguard but I got sick of that look and the mlok was still not useable. I am digging the chopped slim handguard setup

10.5 or 11.5 is the sweet spot for 5.56 SBR.

All 5.56, I have a 7.5 obnoxiously loud flame thrower with flaming pig on it just for funsies and to piss off any nearby fudds, and both a suppressed 10.5 and a suppressed 12.5 just because.

9.5" 300BO is the perfect large caliber subsonic heavy hitter IMHO. Never really got into the pistol caliber subguns.

That’s a great use for 300blk as a heavy hitting subsonic setup to replace a pistol caliber setup. I think a lot of people misunderstand the purpose of 300blk. You hit the nail on the head.

Pistol caliber is just fun for cheap plinking suppressed. I don’t think it’s for any serious use although so far I’ve had no hiccups.

You can still get 50 rounds of subsonic 9 mm for 17$ and it’s cheap to get into. I used a set of receivers I already had spent about $400 On a bolt, barrel, buffer and some mags. End result is basically the same as the $2000 Daniel defense PCC that is just a blowback 9mm with a hydraulic buffer (although i do like the scorpion mags it takes) The buffer was the most expensive part of my build. It was like 130 bucks.

FWIW endomags are super cool if you want to turn a standard ar lower into a 9mm

They take a 30rd pmag and make it a 30rd 9mm mag. LRBHO works and you keep your manual of arms. They have a little feed ramp built in and I have found them to work 100%. (There is also a thing called an exomag made by the same company which is a dedicated mag for this setup and does not consume a pmag)

Disclaimer they have one quirk which is the ejector is built into the mag*

This is a cheap gun with a cheap optic but I love this thing. It shoots so good, runs perfectly. Bought it to goof around but fell in love with it. Slim slide is cut for rmsc but those optics I’ve tried have been too small for the low optics cut, full size suppressor sights and a fat can. I found the Gideon judge XL optic has a huge window and I’ve been happy with it. Is it duty rated? Probably not but it’s woods rated and that’s good enough for having fun with
