Howdy. I didnt want to hijack the other battery thread.

I am curious what you all are seeing for life span of your OEM batteries? I have a 2022 6.7 and have not had any battery issues yet. My coworker has a 2023 6.7 and has already had to replace his (under warranty).

I ask this because NAPA is running a Labor Day sale and I can get 2x Odyssey 94Rs with 3 year warranty for ~$550. If people are only getting 2-3 years out of OEM batteries, it seems prudent to go ahead and swap them out now.

TIA for your responses.

In my opinion Id go with interstate batteries. They are a bit more expensive but. But you should able to get 5 year's out of them at minimum.

Have had my 6.7 since January of 2022 and still have OEM batteries. Cranks just as strong as day one. Not my daily driver. Truck sits for weeks on end without being started. No battery maintainers. Never an issue. I’ll run em til it won’t crank it

Speak of the devil. Just replaced the batteries. Had great luck with Interstate in past but switched it up with Continental AGMs.

Issue arised with a morning one tick no crank and CEL. Passenger battery finally called it a day.

I just had to replace mine on my 2022 2500. 3 years and 3 months since date of manufacture. I’ve had it 2 years and 4 months bought new. They worked fine until they didn’t. In a remote camping spot and actually cranked for me to hook up to the trailer. Cut it off to finish hooking up and then nothing. Fellow camper jumped it off and I drove straight to the nearest Walmart. Cut it off again and nothing. Put 2 new Walmart AGMs in while in the parking lot. Now have a P2509 code but no CEL. I don’t know if it will clear on its own or I’ll have to do it.

My factory battery made it from 2020 to 2024 and a bit less than 80k miles.

I replaced it with a Walmart AMG.

MY 06 3500 Had the same batteries in it when I sold it in 14 My 20 3500 lasted 4 yrs

I got just over 3 years on my 2019 batteries. Left my truck at my parents house for a week and when I returned to start the truck it was completely dead. Couldn't even jump it.

From what I’m hearing seems like there’s not much warning to when the batteries will quit. Is battery testing reliable ? Or just bite the bullet and replace them before you’re left stranded ?

My OEMs were replaced with Costco AGMs at 3 years. They didn't fail but my installed battery monitor (bluetooth) showed that the voltage was dropping too fast when the truck sat for several days. Based on issues that folks on here were experiencing I replaced them to avoid being stranded.
I would have used Costco but the closest one to me at home is 150 miles plus the one in Albuquerque was too far away.

If they don't die by year 5, they get changed anyway. Usually in the fall. Jeep and '19 both got to 5yrs. Rams voltage drop and refresh rate was noticeable towards end. Usually swear by Deka but ram got the Costco Special lead acids.

My 2021 3500 6.7 batteries (bought truck new as a special order) made it 3.5 years. Worst factory batteries in a diesel I’ve ever had.
