Repair Quality Reality Check

I took the truck back in this morning. They listened to my concerns and documented them. Parts are being ordered and the lights are getting addressed today.
It was a reasonable conversation, although it will still require a competent and conscience tech to result in a satisfactory outcome. I left a voice mail with the insurance adjuster, and hope to get them to inspect the work before I pick it up again.

Very bad work. Maybe they ordered the wrong roof skin and cut the holes for the cab lights themselves. I had the roof and hood replaced on my 2020 due to hail damage suffered in the storm that hit Calgary last August. When they scanned my truck, there were over 1000 dents in the hood and roof alone so they replaced both. PDR was done on the fenders, doors and quarters. Total damages were over $16K. Only issue I had was the molding between the roof and the roof rail kept lifting on the driver's side. After 2 return trips to the bodyshop with no lasting repair, I decided to fix it myself. Removed, cleaned, replaced the 3M adhesive tape and re-installed. Hasn't lifted since.

I've read about round holes and oval holes and wondered if they got the wrong one of those. Getting one with no holes at all and cutting them wrong would definitely explain why they weren't sitting right.

I found these two plastic pieces on the floor in the back. Any idea where they should go? Something in the headliner? Third brake light? Rear seat or seatbelts?

I don't know, never seen those before. I do know they have to remove the front windshield, back glass and the headliner to replace the roof skin. If you have a rear defogger grid on the back glass, have a close look to ensure they didnt break the electrical connection to the glass. Just remembered they did break mine. I resoldered the connector to the glass myself. Its my truck and do as much as I can myself because I just don't trust the new generation of "technicians".

The newer trucks are neither. They are rectangular holes. They probably farked that up too.

Thanks for the heads-up. I didn't check that. It's a power slider, and I did verify that it opens and closes.

I would contact the B.B.B file a complaint, talk with your Insurance co and Demand another facility does the repair work .I think your crazy if you let attempt to work on your truck again the definition of Insanity is doing the same thing twice and expecting a different result, they have already proven there work is sub standard .I wish you the best of luck I would be FURIOUS !!

As said take it to the adjuster . My insurance company has an approved list based on work and cost . They will not be happy .

We didn't get a call back from the insurance adjuster Friday afternoon, so I'll get back on that Monday morning.
I looked over a bunch of parts diagrams and wasn't able to identify the mystery plastic pieces. I'm going to assume they are some variety of packing/shipping material, but not throwing them away just yet.

Do they have to do with the clearance lights? Seals? mounting base?
Not that I could find in any diagrams. They are hard plastic, and have imprints left on each side from being tightened between something and something else.

I spoke with the insurance adjuster this morning. She said they hadn't had any previous complaints about the shop, they need to be given an opportunity to correct their work, and she would call them to check on it. I wasn't very encouraged by the call - we'll see how things go.

I emailed the pictures and descriptions of my complaints to the insurance adjuster, even though she didn't sound interested in receiving them.
The shop called this morning - some parts came in today and the rest are expected Thursday.

Brutal_HO and red nailed this one - roof holes don't match the lights. I emailed an update to the insurance adjuster and hope to hear something next week.

I brought my truck home Monday afternoon. Still not satisfied, but I suppose I will have to wait for it to leak, then get an estimate from another shop to fix what this one didn't, and take that to small claims court. It's been nine weeks from drop-off to pick-up, and I have work backed up, so I'm driving it for now.

The windshield and roof moldings were replaced and installed well, and the fenders were buffed out. They gave me a partial refund on the camper paint, $450, which isn't great, but is something. It does look good at curb distance. The bed and interior were both cleaned pretty well.
The interior trim damage was not corrected, and I noticed the overhead console doesn't fit snugly anymore either. Clearance lights are better than the two previous attempts, but still not satisfactory. With the overhead console out you can see how they dealt with the lamp bases in the wrong roof holes - don't look if you have a sensitive stomach.

Overhead console hangs from the two mounting screws. Both front plastic clips are broken off. The metal pieces on the male part of the rear retainers don't look bad to me, but they are nowhere close to holding the console up - is there something missing from the openings in the piece above the headliner that they clip into or are the metal pieces just mashed together?

I appreciate everyone's input, and thanks for listening to me whine and complain. If you're shopping for body shops in Brownwood, Texas, send me a message before you choose one.

I can't believe the hack job they did on the cab lights. Looks like bare metal exposed where they cut the openings in the roof skin.
