Can't get 360 Trailer system to work

Hi,
I bought the 360 trailer camera kit to add with my (newer to me) 2022 RAM 3500 Limited. However I cannot get it to show up on the Uconnect 12 display.

I hooked the trailer gateway to the 12 pin on the bumper with 1 camera connected - and ensured it is fully seated (round placement disk locks into 12 pin cover)

I can see greyed out buttons on the camera section for the trailer 360 Camera, and buttons for the 4 camera options. But only give an error to connect the camera system to the truck. I see the same greyed out option in the settings system for the 360 trailer camera settings - and get the same error message when I press it.

I have the 12 pin connector on the bumper and have confirmed that the wiring is connected to it behind the bumper.

I have also confirmed that I have the gateway module under the dash (068509331AB)

I"m now at a loss - anyone have any ideas?

Thanks much!

From what I've read there are 2 versions of the 360 camera kit.

I am pretty sure you'll need the newer version that has a repeater built in. They call it a STIM module.

My 2024 required the newer version to work.

I have part #68527709ab which as far as I can find is for the 2022's

The part number has changed again but yes I think that's the right one. The one I installed was 68527709AC. So same thing just a newer part number revision. Was this kit new and had all the parts?

You dont happen to have the 5th wheel tow prep group do you? You'd have a second 12 pin in the bed. If you do maybe try that one too?

I apologize I am not going to be much help because I followed your same steps on my 2024 except I had to add the gateway module and everything worked.

Do you have 5th wheel prep (connectors in bed?)

The 12-pin is connected to the bed by default. There is only one cable connection to EITHER the bed OR bumper. You need to pull the BODY cable and plug it into the BUMPER (moving the plug over to the BED) to protect the pins.

Also, some trucks came with the option not enabled from the plant, so you would need either or JScan or AlfaOBD to enable it. Sounds like it's already enabled, so I'm guessing cabling.

That's for the DRVM Digital Tow Mode camera and is for 23+.

Thanks for the input!

I don't have the 5th wheel prep package - but I will check to ensure the body isn't disconnected from the bumper cabling. I did check at the 12 pin plug - but didn't follow it back further.

It is the complete package new - all parts listed in the enclosed instructions were included.

I did only use one camera to test - but everything I've read says it will work with just one.

I'll double check if it is enabled in JScan (if I can figure out what it's called!) - but suspect it is, given the buttons are there, just greyed out.

Thanks much!

I've checked the wiring - on mine there is only the connection to the 12 pin plug - so that is good.

I put the meter on pin 1 on the 12 pin plug with the truck running, and get .8v...it should be 12v so for some reason power isn't getting to the plug, thus nothing to the cameras to be identified.

I haven't been able to track down what JScan calls the gateway module, it's not named the same as AlphaOBD...

Just in case someone else goes down this rabbit hole, perhaps someone else will benefit from my efforts :(...

After confirming all of the hardware was on the truck and enabled (Jscan doesn't seem to be able to do it, but AlfaOBD does), checking the fuses and then tracing down he wiring looking for a break... I finally checked the first thing I should have (always start with the easy thing!)... the connector on the bumper itself. Pin 1 from the back to the front doesn't have continuity... alas, I need a new bumper connector.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and hints - it is appreciated!
