I have a 22 model 2500 Cummins with the factory off road package with 35” tires. I recently bought a 40ft, 14,000 lb fifth wheel and when pulling down the highway I will get severe body roll, it doesn’t happen all the time but when it does I have to hit the trailer brake to slow the truck down to 60 to 65 mph to stop the rolling. This does not happen all the time but enough that it concerns me. Has anyone else experienced this?

No airbags, when talking to the local trailer company they suggested the sumo springs as they would be better for body roll

I'd go weigh with and without the trailer hooked up, you might be taking to much weight off the front. My 35' 11k 5th wheel causes a decent amount of squat without the bags aired up and I am RIGHT at my max axle rating.

Overloading the truck is a topic that others can speak too... and they will... at length and so I'll let those folks go at it. But body roll can be improved with a quick aftermarket part. buy a hellwig sway bar. I had one on my 1500 and on my 2500 and it helped keep the truck from nose diving into turns. I had installed the heavier sway bar before I pulled with either truck, so I can't say if it'll help for sure, but it improved the daily drivability so much in both cases that it's at the top of my upgrade suggestion list for anyone with a half or 3/4-ton truck.

Only caveat is it'll decrease articulation, so if you do true off-roading you might wanna skip it. You wanna put 35's and tow 15k, go for it, but slap on 37s and a lift and you're done towing heavy.

1. Slow down (how fast ARE you going?)
2. 2500 inboard coils/factory bags are often subject to this issue especially towing over allowed payload/pin weight
3. Add airbags; sumo springs/timbrins are a charlie cheap-a$$ fix. Bags give you adjustability and when coupled with daystar cradles don't impact offroad ability
4. HD swaybar (if needed after 1-3)

I only tow around 10k with my 22 2500 on 35’s, however, I added air bags with compressor from the start and recently added the Thuren rear track bar upgrade. Just towed the 5er and the 2 seat RZR on a trailer behind it and had no problems. The sway from the second trailer was minimal. As for body roll I’ve never had that issue with my set up.

I generally stay around 65 to 70 mph, you never know when the body roll will happen as it’s unpredictable. I’m trying to find what the axle weight is on my truck. My camper specs list my hitch weight at 2,950 so I’m not sure if I’m overloading the truck and that’s the piece of the puzzle I’m missing.

Severe body roll? Did you buy the truck used? If so, Does the truck have both swaybars installed

I don’t pull a fifth wheel but if the swaybars were off and you pulled a fifth wheel I could see it being tippy? Maybe?

Doesn’t make sense to have body roll with rear swaybar and

Just found out I’m at or over my hitch weight limit, was told the max hitch weight is between 2,000 and 3,000 lbs and my fifth wheel hitch is 2,950 and I’m assuming with the off road package, I’m on the lower end of the limit.

No sense In assuming. Check your sticker for payload and subtract your passengers etc

That should still be fine. Is your hitch a dual pivoting head? With a dual pivot you should not get any body roll. Also I have the “offroad pkg” and have no issue when I have towed trailers with 3k-3500lbs pin weight.

Do you mean sway side to side? You won’t really get any roll going down the highway. Only on turns at speed.
That’s a long trailer. Not surprising you get a sway wiggle occasionally.
