New guy. 2022 2500 crew cab short bed. Retractable running boards, tonneau cover, air bags, 50 gallon fuel tank, 5th wheel hitch. Also, the common DPF problems and now issues with Uconnect display and garage door opener/visor power. Thanks in advance for all the information shared here.

Welcome to the forum. DPF probs on a ‘22 already? Are you doing just short grocery type runs mostly?

Weekdays, drive 44 mile round trips to work. Sometimes the freeway and other days surface streets. Just did 800 mile round trip (no trailer) on the freeway this past weekend and used over 1/4 tank of DEF. Coming from a Ford 6.7 that would never have used anywhere near that much DEF on a nontowing trip. Thanks

Welcome.

DPF and DEF are not the same systems.

DEF knocks down NOx. It has little to do with Soot buildup or regen in the DPF other than more DEF = less EGR.

1/4 tank DEF is 1.25 gals. DEF MPG sounds about normal.

What "DPF" issues are you having? Do you track time between regens? Are you monitoring oil level and/or testing to ensure you're not getting fuel dilution (if you're having actual regen issues)?

Just to jump on the DEF discussion, I just completed a 2700 mile trip in a new-to-me 2021 2500, pulling a 7000# toy hauler. We pushed pretty hard, averaging about 65-70mph and 10.5 MPG. Based on the amount This is my first diesel with DEF and I was surprised at the consumption. Overall, I got approximately 350 mpg for DEF. Seems low, but I dont have a point of reference. I Grok'ed it and it looks like 1000 mpg for DEF is typical, with various factors driving it lower. Am I way out of family here?

350MPG towing is what you're going to see with Ram Cummins. Know that more DEF = less EGR.

AI is notoriously wrong on most of these technical searches.

Thanks! Came as a bit of a shock while we were doing 500+ miles a day! We definitely flushed out the DEF system!
