2025 Crooked Bed

Just wanted to see if anyone else has this issue with their bed rails being super crooked on one side. My LH side looks perfect to me. I got my Pace Edwards Bedlocker installed and the tonneau looks mint on the LH side.

The RH side is atrocious. The bed rail sits over 1/4" higher than the tailgate at an angle. I really don't see any way to correct it, either. It leaves my tonneau track at a goofy angle and the electric motor stalls out when it gets towards the end because the tracks are so far off from parallel at that point.

That’s some quality right there

Update: I was able to remove enough of the tonneau to slightly raise the plastic bedrail cap (couldn't get a pic with only 2 hands). With the rail cap removed, I don't understand how this left the plant. The bed is AFU. There are 3 spot welds that hold the painted metal to the bed-liner metal. The painted part was not properly clamped down before the welds.

Repair will require at least removing those 3 spot welds, clamping the top down properly, & re-welding. I'll contact dealer Tuesday to see how they want to fix it. Pretty bummed right now...20250525_143113.jpg

What's more egregious is the blue inspection mark right there so you know someone looked at that and passed it.

Great catch. No mark on the $hitty side.

@pyro I’m saying you get a new bed and some down time at a paint shop. I hope it goes well for yah.

Unlikely, it will likely be contracted out to a body shop for repair due to cost of repair vs replacement.

The entire bed/tailgate/tail lights are only worth $400 according to the website builder :P That bed delete price always drives me nuts...

I sent the email. Local dealership has a body shop so we'll see what they say Tuesday. Hope the repair/replacement doesn't take a month. I have an upcoming trip to Nevada in June I can't miss.

Update: The dealer that sold me the truck called me today and told me they'll 100% help me to get this resolved. Gave me some suggestions on which dealers to try working with locally.

I've got 3 options somewhat close (within 1-1/2 hr drive). I tried the first one today. As soon as they asked me where I bought the truck and I said "Louisiana", you could just see it in his face he didn't give AF and wasn't going to help.
I showed them how the bed wasn't even pressed all the way together before being welded and how it prevents my tonneau from closing properly, and their response was basically "if that's Ram's standards then that's what it is and we're not going to fix it". They totally reaffirmed why I didn't even bother trying to order the truck thru them.

They had less than a dozen trucks on their lot (mostly 24's because they're still selling them at MSRP). I shot some pics of another bed with the exact same problem as mine, as well as one that's obviously fine. I asked them if they'll fix the broken one on their lot and they said no. They tried to gaslight me into believing these 2 white trucks were both equally acceptable.

Meanwhile, 100% of the 1500's were laser straight and level. So, they can make these trucks right - they just choose not to.

Took the truck to the local dealer. They're short on body work right now, so they thought they'd have it turned around this week.
On my way there this morning, I made it about 1/2 mile out of my driveway and the gauge cluster lit up like a Christmas tree. I can't figure out how to post the video on here, but it said things like ABS , 4x4, & park assist disabled.
They're going to look at the codes after the bodywork, so who knows when I'll get it back

"Good enough" has a whole different meaning in Mexico.

Ram HD trucks have been assembled in Mexico since forever. I've owned 2 (or is it 3?) built there and they've been well built and reliable trucks.

This recent rash of issues is hardly ALL related to where they're built or by whom. More likely cost cutting by Stellantis.

Does that bed/body QA need improvement? Yes. Could just be one sub-par employee, or slipping QA due to said cost cutting.

Thats not mexico thats the old CEO of stellantis who was encouraging the major cost cutting. He is gone now so we can hope the quality comes back to a level we had previously.

This is my third Ram diesel. A 97 2500, a 2003 3500 and this one. And I think the quality of the fit and finish has gone down hill. Maybe the same guy in Mexico built all three and got more sloppy as time went on. To me, it is all driven by corporate greed at the end of the day.

I had 2 different body shops look at it. They both told me that body quality has gone down across the board on all vehicles since 2020. They said 2018-2019 was kind of where body quality peaked, and it's been a train wreck since.
My door quality also sucks. But it doesn't affect the function, so I'm not going to complain.
At this point, I'm really anxious to see what the 2027 new body style looks like. Every time I hop in this 2025, the non-telescoping wheel drives me nuts.

Resolved!
Although it took quite a while to get a dealership to fix it (since apparently warranty bodywork is so low paying that no one wants to do it), I finally got my truck back! Got some pics of what the bed actually looked like under the plastic cap. This will be the last Mexican-made Dodge I ever buy.

Guy in Mexico at the Ram assembly plant : “Send it down the line, can’t see it from my house!”

As someone in the column business, stay far away from anything with an electric tilt/telescope column... they are not worth the headache.
