Recall VB6 - 2019 DJ D2 Diesel Engine Calibration

After hearing nothing from my case manager the last three weeks, I was notified by Ram Cares yesterday that tsb 18-059-20 (dated Aug 8) has been released and maybe a possible fix. I sure hope so. I am pretty much at witts end here. I did go to my dealer to see about trading it in. 61k was the best they could do on 2019 RAM Limited with 8k miles on it. Let's see, I spend a butt load of money on totally awesome truck. Take it in for the mandatory recall. Get a broken truck back which they caused, then get a 26k slap in the face for letting them F up my truck. Sounds about right..........

HMM... Sounds familiar... I got the same results... was offered 59-61,000 for my New truck which I spent a ton of money on, along with almost 10,000 in add ons that won't fit another truck!
Took it back a second time a week after the dealer said there wasn't a fix, and now there is a possible fix? 4 hours later its done... OK well NO it's not! Now it hesitates when I need it to move, it shifts harder, still surges a bit... The MPG has dropped from 16-18 consistently.
September when I bought it, through about February, to now it stays at about (14.2). So I have decided not to keep it. They can try to fix it, but I am done! Warranty or not. I do not want the hassle now, or in the future. I agree They messed it up, not my fault, not what I bought. I am done!

Keep sending it back, then see an attorney and lemon law it. So far mine has run great with the recall, but its not mandatory, only Comifornia requires it. Unfortunatly the dealer did it without my permission, and its documented, so if I have any issues that can't be resolved, it will get lemon lawed.

Thats where I am at now... it's to bad, because I really liked the truck!

Hello everyone,
There is a TSB to address concerns after VB6. The number is 18-059-20. Please contact your dealer for further assistance.

So, what does this do? Should you go in if you aren't having any real issues? My biggest complaint is shuddering shifts while towing and occasional surging.

Same here I've had it shift wierd couple times and shutter not towing...

I personally can't say what to do, but what I have noticed. (Before) the VB6 recall update, no issues that I can recall.
(After) the VB6 recall FIX, surging, strange shifting, loss of power, hesitation, loss of fuel MPG
(After) the TSB- 18-059-20 Fix, slightly less surging, same weird shifting, hesitation, loss of power, and worse fuel mileage.
My mpg was 16-18 for the first 5 months that I had it, now its down to about 14.1

I have always thought, if it aint broke don't fix it! So Until they Know what the unintended consequences of all this monkeying around is. Thats your choice. I would get it documented though.

I mean, it is up to you. I'd suggest getting it done if you have any concerns.
Any specific questions can be brought up to your dealership too.

UPDATE!! (Fourth trip to the dealer for this issue, and about the tenth overall for other issues) Well I Just received a call from the dealer Ram says a9 "there is no fix at this time... and unfortunately when there are updates done, it does affect fuel mileage")
UUUHHH. SOOO The only thing that has changed, with the supposed fix to a problem that was created by the people with a fix, is fuel mileage. Which was pretty good until they screwed with it. 17.8 mpg down to 13.6 mpg, otherwise there is no fix at this time to our mistake! This just gets better, and now the Ram Cares.... LOL Agent is MIA again go figure. Even the dealer can't seem to get ahold of her.

after getting the transmission recall "fixed" I have noticed:
1) 2-3MPG decrease
2) Whining noise from the transmission sounds like power steering whine but goes away when you shift to neutral
3) Manual selection of lower gear does not always work

I have all of 7,500 miles on the truck now

After a recall supposed fix... lower mpg, not a surprise! You have the 850 ft/lbs torque.. standard cummins, not the Aisin trans. Not the same recall to my knowledge, but serious issues non the less.

Hello all. VB6 is part of the recall for the Transmission Valve Body and will be performed at the same time. We do recommend scheduling an appointment as soon as possible to address this. If anyone needs assistance, please send a private message!

Is it a de-tune. Because mine is putting out great mileage. also I have no issues with transmission temperature and I'm towing 11,000 lbs.

My transmission temps, MPG, shifting, general operation was great before the VB6 recall! Now...The trans temp is still great, the operation, and function, are ridiculous.

If you aren't having any concerns, there wouldn't be a reason to have it applied.
It is not a de-tune.

Has anyone else had the service bulletin fix applied, and what is your experience? I had the VB6 applied back in March and it seemed to correct the very rough shifting but I still have some hesitation between gears 2 and 3 going up hill. I also notice the surging when accelerating up hill. It is not to the degree that others have experienced. I’m wondering if I should get this new fix applied to try and correct these issues or just have to accept it as is. I have a 2019 3500 SRW Megacab HO with Aisin.

Yes, I had the VB6, and the so called fix, and a relearn. Nothing is fixed on my truck. the symptoms are less at sea level, or Texas level. It still shifts funny, and hesitates, suggest slightly. I don't have the ability to find out if the elevation will still affect it. The fuel mileage is now at 13.1 down from 18.0 at four months old in December of 2019!

Just had this applied, truck is running fine. I didn't necessarily have an issue before, but the one thing I noticed is that my 2-3 or 3-4 (forget which one) shift no longer chirps which I think is/was pretty common on the HO/Aisin.

Has anyone experienced poor performance and the feeling that sometimes your truck is bouncing or bucking after this recall? I am and now 200 miles after the recall I have CEL P0204. Anyone know what is going on?

The truck just feels gutless now and sucks to drive. I would give anything to go back to how it was before this recall and just avoid getting it done. I loved driving prior.
