Tailgate alignment ?

mine is the right side out of alignment. i was able to close the gap to make it less noticeable till i brought the truck in for the tailgate recall. Now it just looks as bad as day one
 
Mine is in the body shop right now for the very same thing, left side of the gate sticking out and doesn't close correctly. Figured out on my own that the bed is not square on the frame and offset to one side slightly. This condition also created problems for one Rambox to the point the dealer is replacing the entire rambox structure top to bottom. Just talked with the body shop this morning and this is a common issue with the trucks coming out of Saltillo, he says it's just a matter of loosening all the bed bolts and re-positioning correctly. Stated he does them all the time. Dealer is covering all of this under the base warranty.
 
One day! That's all it took to re-align the bed and tailgate! Body shop called me at 3PM yesterday stating it was done and going back to the dealership, hopefully have it back by Friday as they've had it for 4 weeks now smh.
 
So it keeps getting better and better! The out of square bed had messed up one the Ramboxes, warped top and not sealing so after going to the body shop they replaced the entire Rambox; literally every component. Now it's perfect and aligns and closes awesome! BUT squaring the bed made the other one curve and warp! SO now the entire left side will get replaced, once done it will all be new! Had to realign the tonneau cover yesterday, wasn't bad. So to address the thread title, the tailgate does close much better now but it is not completely flush with the bed on either side, much better though and I can live with it as both sides match. Sticks out about 1/16th" maybe, no big deal and way better than the 1/4" on one side.
 
I thought there was a recall regarding this? I remember getting a letter and seeing a line on the last service paperwork I had done.

Recall was for tailgate popping open on its own i think. My tailgate looked exactly like OP’s and just had recall done about month ago but this issue still there.

They must be realigning the entire bed when they do this. When I took mine in for the recall and an oil change, I seen they had drawn marks all on all the corners and latch.

I had pretty bad gaps on both sides of the tailgate, and I thought that was pretty normal since I have seen that a lot on here. Now its even on both sides, and the gap is not so obtrusive on each side. Yesterday, I drove about 950 miles back from Florida, and when I was unloading the bed this morning I noticed one of my cover clamps had fallen off. I went to put it back on, and found most of them needed tightened. I don't know if the dealership loosened them to align the bed. They could have wiped off their blue marks though :( lol. I do have to shut it hard now. Before it would click closed by pushing with one finger. Now you have to really mean to close it. I guess that's one way to make sure it won't come open.
 
2024 ram power wagon noticed when closing the bed the drivers side was not closed as far as the passenger side. I noticed this about 4 days after I bought it. Was messing with it the other day and found that if I push it closed by placing my hand on the passenger side it seems to close good if I push it from the center where the handle is, the drivers side is gapped. And if I close it by placing my hand on the drivers side, it sometimes doesn’t even close. Will mess with it more and if I figure anything out will let everyone know.
 
Well I don’t know why It does this but it seems to close fine if I place a hand to the left and a had to the right about shoulder width apart and my body centered with the handle. So that’s what I’m going to do when I close it.

Mine has always been similar. Not quite a slam and it closes perfectly. Uneven or soft close and it doesn’t line up

I tried adjusting the striker but doesn't seem to make a difference. It is only on the left side and it seems to lock fine and auto open with the fob ok. Like everyone else who has replied n my 2021 has the same issue. Where it really makes a difference is with my Leer camper shell. Because my tailgate sticks out 1/8 inch, the latch on the LH side of the shell pops loose. Numerous adjustments on the shell... still not right. I wonder if a body shop could identify the issue?

close it hard. Almost a slam.
