Ram Trucks Facing Surge In Infotainment Screen Thefts

Thieves Are Stealing Uconnect 5 Screens Faster Than Ever

If you own a newer Ram pickup, you might want to be extra cautious these days. Over the past several months, there’s been a big spike in thieves breaking into these trucks and ripping out their big Uconnect 5 dashboard screens. It’s happening fast, and it’s a lot easier than you probably think.

considering its 2 small screws and a yank :| if you want to make it harder, put a phone holder in the top pocket so they cant get to the screws easily lol

Torx security screws might at least slow them down or move on to another truck. Of course one might run into a thief with all the tools but I suspect they know exactly the the type of screw the factory puts in.

At least for me personally, I have zero use for the infotainment system at all.

I already have a phone with GPS and music from my phone / spotify.

All 4 of us listen to entirely different music when on a trip, so a common radio and built in speakers are more or less useless.

Don't need the speakers either - just some insulation and I am good.

I guess the only part that this would eliminate that might be useful though is a active noise cancellation in a megacab.

If someone desires to be a thief and steal something, they don't need an internet article to tell them how to do it. They've likely figured it out all on their own or watched a YouTube video that discussed doing something that requires removal of the screen.

I had the same thought - the article is irresponsible.

Oh please.

they have been stealing radios since before the internet. the fact that it was posted here or an article was made wont help any would be thief. hell just youtube remove radio ram lol

Exactly.
