What did you do TO your RAM today?

Wheels and tires! AEV Katla 17x8.5 and Falken Wildpeak AT4W 35x12.5R17. Man it looks so much better!

Unfortunately the tire shop jacked up the center of 3 out of the 4 wheels. This is the worst one, the others have small scratches. They were also instructed to use stick on weights up close behind the spokes and clamp weights for the back side of the wheel so as to avoid interference with the calipers. They did it right on the two car wheels but put stick-ons right where they shouldn't have on the front wheels and of course it rubs. Going back tomorrow to speak with a manager.

They look great. I am angry for you!

I live those 8 hole style wheels. Remind me of all the lifted trucks Ide drool over as a kid in the 80s and 90s

Eventually I am gonna put these on mine…

Thanks! I’m going to of course make them replace them, so it’ll be fine in the end other than the frustration and waste of time. I appreciate the anger though. I’ve got plenty of it at the moment!

Those wheels you posted will look great!

I honestly would have loved to do a retro white wheel, but my wife vetoed that idea on style grounds. She’s usually right about these things so I didn’t argue too much.

Those look Great. I wouldn't accept anything but Replacement.
Turns out they don't have the proper soft cones for their mounting or balancing machines, so they just put a rag on the metal cone. Or at least they did for one wheel, but not the others. Of course they couldn't have just told me they didn't have the equipment to do the install properly.

It ended up being only 2 wheels with damage. The 3rd one that I thought was damaged was just some white tire mouting lube. They're putting in a claim with their insurance who should be paying me direct. I'll take the money, buy new wheels, get them installed at a place that actually has the right tools, sell the most damaged wheel on FB for cheap, and keep the one with minor scratches as a backup.

Oh, and somehow they appear to have messed up something with one of the valve stems. When I aired them down from 65 psi to the proper pressure I had to push one of the valve stems at an angle for air to come out.

Follow-up. Walmart reached out and is sending me $$ for the damage. Significantly more than I paid for the entire set of wheels actually. I'll never trust Walmart with a vehicle again (was dumb to in the first place) but I'm happy with their response to the issue.

Good on WalMart for doing the right thing.

I have had 4 (3 front and 1 outside rear) of my factory aluminum dually wheels damaged at Discount Tire stores during initial tire installs and rotations (they swap tires between the wheels front and rear). Each factory wheel runs $600+ for replacement. They have replaced each time on their dime. As long as they are upfront and take care of it, I can't be too mad other than irritated that it happened, again and again.

Yeah, it's really frustrating that they can't just do things right the first time. I'll most likely take it to Commercial Tire as they did the TPMS sensors install and balance on my RV trailer tires and didn't damage anything. I plan to ask them ahead of time if they have the proper equipment to do it without damaging the wheels.

Replaced the carpet flooring with vinyl. While I run the OEM floor liners which cover most of the floor, where they don’t cover get fur, dirt, crumbs, etc embedded and are hard to clean.

This was the other factory option I wanted but didn’t get since I ended up buying a dealer-configured truck. Just something I always wanted and figured I’d install while I’m already pulling seats to remove the jump seat, now is as good a time as any to replace it.

I wanted vinyl too. Wifey was dead against it. I have 3 kids and we go to the beach all the time. I figured it would be way easier to clean and all my work vehicles have the vinyl floors.

I bet if you warmed it with a heat gun the creases would disappear. Or just wait til summer and let it bake in the sun

Yeah it’s starting to warm up, I’m sure after a couple weeks the creases will smooth out. The big crease in the middle was from how it was folded from the factory…. It’s hidden by the rear floor mats anyways though. In fact the vast majority of the floor is covered by the OEM floor mats. I don’t really understand the appeal of carpet, I’m almost never barefoot in my truck, but I always have the floor liners anyways. With the jump seat, there is a fair bit of exposed carpet up front; but I put in the 4th gen mini floor console a while back which covers most of that, and I’ll be (trying) to install the full length center console which does the same.

Replaced the crappy fog lights I've had for a few years with a 32" Nilight bar. If anyone is looking for a less expensive bar I highly recommend the Nilight off Amazon. This is the 3rd or 4th one I've bought from them and they seem to be plenty bright and tough. fogs.jpgbar.jpg

Today I installed the CJC Squadron Pro foglight kit for tradesman. Nothing about it was complicated. The hardest part was the little semi captured slot nut/bolts that hold the stupid bezels in. 5 on each side. On drivers side they were easy. But the passenger side has 4 now. One of them just refused to mount up. I decided 4 is good enough. One on each corner!

Obviously I got amber (selective yellow). I chose it after watching tons of comparison videos that highlight less eye fatigue, better dust and snow penetration and better contrast/less washout. It also matches the amber clearance lights, mirror markers, front corner markers/turn signals.

These are Squadron Pro at approximately 8200 total lumens! They are too bright for on coming traffic. I live out in the boonies where its mostly dark ass country roads. So Ill just be polite and kill em when I see someone approaching.

I wired them to my aux 1 switch. My rear floods/reverse are on aux 2

I also installed a ground block to clean up the wiring under the hood.

Night time pics coming tonight

Interestingly, they are very bright when driving but reflection doesnt hurt your eyes at all. I cant same the same for looking at them from another driver’s persepective. I noticed the reflection on roadsigns is different. You can see them and they light up very well but there is zero glare off of them.

Description of photos in order…

Just the squadron pro “fog lights” head-on
“Fog-lights” + headlights head-on
No lights
“Fog lights” only from driver’s seat
Headlights and highbeams
Headlights and highbeam + “fog lights”
