I either buy this truck, from a local dealer for $56k, which has some pretty aggressive time-on-lot rebates. Or I build the same thing in a 2025, same options, which MSRPs for $78k and published discounts would bring it to 68k.

The main difference I see is the 2024 vs 2025, but on a 2024 that isn't insignificant.

Thing is there wont be a red Power Wagon, with dual alternators, ect. And the only gasser and PW change was a reduction on power really. When you order an 80K vehicle, you want it the way you want it. It is entirely possible the gasser will see updates, or the Octane for 2026, so why not limp along and wait? Maybe no paint is a way of controlling inventory with upgrades coming in 2026? Hard to say, but Ram is making it easy to wait.

The 2500 changes are significant, but it's a lot of coin! I assume when I trade it in in 3-4 years the 2025 will be worth more, but not that much more.

Never mind 3 or 4 years. In 3 or 4 days it will be that way. The 24 is a year old already. Need to go with your gut on this one

Thank you for clarifying - that is a HECK of a deal if it turns to be real (real meaning without add-back junk stuff). Looking at the available incentives on both front and back end of this vehicle, it's a long-shot - but take it if it's real. It has, however, been on the lot for 400 days.

It is 58k without stallentis financing and 56k with. The rate is like 8 percent which is high, but it can be paid off. That's the only shenanigans I can see, it looks clean otherwise.

I think it's age driving it

Normal for a new color roll-out. The plastic bits (body color bumpers, grille surrounds, mirror caps, ramboxes) come from separate plants so it can sometimes take a while for it all to match up, but they want to at least get it out to market for what they can. Forged Blue on 1500s took foreeeever to be open on all those options. Thankfully that made for a faster roll-out on the HDs.

2024 all day long if that discount is legit. sure the 2025 is going to be worth more, but you're also going to pay more so not sure why that'd be brought into the equation...there's no way a 2025 similarly optioned truck is going to be worth the extra $10-12k you're going to have to pay on the front end when you get ready to sell. that $20k discount is essentially the first couple years of depreciation that you're not having to pay for...

there can also be a discussion on how both a 24 and 25 would be valued from a miles/year perspective if both started at zero miles today and you drive a lot (we purposefully buy "last year's" model for our family vehicle that averages 40k/yr)

if you want the latest and greatest, then just buy the 2025.

I appreciate it Anthony. It was, indeed too good to pass up, and didn't seem like some odd stepchild config wise either. Pretty nice looking big horn. I'm not sure why it sat so long... but it wasn't in a desert or salty location, so I'll get over it. Cars do fine outside here, and I have no garage for it either.

Next time when I need to go new, and something stupid like this doesn't fall into my lap, I will definitely be reaching out to you for your honesty, and assistance. 2027 for the new styling?

But it's in my driveway now, and I don't see any shenanigans, looks like $55,299 + doc fee, although I did have to agree to take a 8.9% Stellantis loan (I can pay it off after 4 months).

On the other hand, I got them to agree to an oil change for the 400 days :)

Should be changing more than just the engine oil. I’d want the DEF tank drained, flushed, and refilled too. Along with a fresh set of batteries. I’d also shorten your differential oil changes as well. It’s been on the lot 400 days, plus the time between when it was manufactured and shipped.

Your taxes are crazy high. That sucks. You don’t have to wait 4 months to pay it off. They want you to so they get their kickback from the finance company. You can pay-off or refinance whenever you want to.

Very good deal (besides your taxes in that state)! :)
