Firestone Transforce AT2

Just took my Stock crap tires off they were like driving on ice with any moisture on the ground and down right sketch in snow and ice. Couldn't get rid of them fast enough. I hope the 2's are better but my experience with stock tires on the Rams has not been good. My '13 had the worst tires I have ever had and these followed suit.

I replaced the AT on my 22 at 20,000 miles as I couldn’t take them anymore. Replaced with the new Michelin Defender LTX Platinum and loved them. Considering replacing the AT2 immediately on my 25 when it arrives with the same Michelin.

I picked up my 2025 last night and have always switched to Michelins first thing. Seeing they don't have the Discover in 20s I ordered Continentals Teraincontacts H/T.

I replaced my AT's with wildpeak 4's after 300 miles. I noticed a ride difference right away, even on pavement they were better.

Let us know how you like them after getting some miles on them. That's what I'm looking at since I love the Continental brand (ExtremeContact summer only tires on my Special, quiet, comfortable, great traction), but it'll be a few years before I need tires on my truck. It's at 1000 miles now.

Had them switched out this afternoon and what a difference they made. Drove home on the freway and smooth, quiet and absorbs the rough road so much better than the Firestones. I knew they would make a difference but am super happy I made the switch when I did. Didn't want to make that type of an investment after just purchasing the truck but all I can say is, Do It you will not be disappointed.
I cannot for the best of me wonder why Ram went with Firestone and a AT tire at that for the price we pay for these trucks. My 2006 and 2011 came with Michelins if I'm not mistaken.

Did you go with the at or the ht version of the continental terraincontact?

Seeing we tow 90% on freeways, went with the H/T. A friend up in Colorado has H/T and he uses them in light snow in winter and light off-roading during hunting season and has never had an issue. He has had them for a while now and says he won't use anything else. Just cost $$$ more than others.

I’ve ran the AT version and it was good for an AT but still had some noise. I think that HT is a great choice! Glad it’s going well.

90% of Colorado lives on the eastern (Denver) side of the Rockies where just 20% of the precipitation including snow falls. The roads are nicely plowed over there, so a H/T would be no issue. 90% chance that he lives near the Front Range.

I traded in our H/T within the same week after our 2024 Ram 3500 purchase due to we live within the Western Slope of the Rockies. Need tires that work for our climate. Average snowfall at our nearest NOAA weather station is 35 feet annually. Can't go through much deeper than 2 feet though even with our 2016 Power Wagon.

I have always wondered why RAM puts such poor tires on such an expensive truck. I wish they would allow you to choose your tire when ordering a custom build. When I got my truck I replaced those Transforce tires after about two weeks. They were just not good. I went with a set of Continental Terrain Contact ATs. Those have served me well. Their only downside is that I would like better snow traction. Planning on replacing them with a set of BFG KO3s by next fall.

My family lives on the southern slopes, Pagosa Springs area.
You are correct that he lives on the front range, Longmont area.
I'm from Colorado and my father would always change from HT tread to AT treads during winters. I feel tires have come a long way since then.

Our family's home in Wyoming climate is listed as sub-arctic. April 5th was the last snowfall with above 35 MPH wind gusts of which during winter causes some major deep snow drifts. Our blue Ram 3500 and gray 2500 4x4's both run Toyo C/T's for aggressive the deeper snow.

They run Toyo AT III's on their Ram 2500 4x4 in Wyoming We were discussing more aggressive tires with the 3PMSF rating for their snow drifts. The most aggressive is the Yokohama A/T XD. Still a full M/T for snowdrifts might be a better choice.

The factory OEM Duratracs on our 2016 Ram 2500 4x4 Power Wagon I liked when I purchased the truck. They were too weak in the sidewall for the truck being Load Range D. Under full load they became quite squirrelly. Rock punctured through two of them out in our boonies. That was it for those tires. I still run Load Range E Duratracs though on my 1500 4x4 with no such issues.

I second the wild peak AT4. I replaced my Transforce at 22k and have about 10k on the AT4s and honestly couldn’t be happier and we had more snow then usual here this winter.

Basing tire decisions on average snowfall is a bit naïve. The eastern part of Colorado away from the foothills has a thing called WIND that creates massive drifts with some of the smallest amounts of accumulation. Get outside Denver/Boulder and the roads are not always "nicely plowed" when there's a storm or for days following. Even after plowing, we're often driving on hard pack and H/T tires are pretty useless.

I'm quite familiar with Eastern Colorado winds and snowdrifts in winter. Mud too.

My AT2 with a thousand miles on them are better now that I dropped air pressure. They came with over 80 psi. Road like a wagon.
Time will tell.
I've always run Toyo open country on my previous HD Rams with great success.

Just put a set of Kenda Klever R/T's on my 24, listed the Transforce AT2's on Marketplace, sold em this eve for $600, made half my money back that I spent on the Kenda's. Whaddya know! I found something Trashforce tires are good for!

Had an unrepairable rear tire. Wanted the tires to match but only the AT2 was available. I just ordered the other three. On the wet roads in FL, I haven't had any issues. Just the tread life wasn't great. My tire guy tells me they are an upgrade from the AT's. Having both on my truck, I can see a difference in the side wall and center tread. They said they are rated to 55,000. Time will tell. I put Michelins on my wife's 1500 an they've been great. I'll probably go with Michelin's on the 2500 next time.
