New 2024 leaking fluids

Mine was completely soaked like that as well.
After using four cans of brake cleaner clean up, & A little bit. Of time, We found the rear output shaft seal was the culprit.
I replaced it myself with a new seal under the old part number. After about a month it started leaking again.
The local dealer Finally got the new seals in under the new part number and haven't had any problems since.
Jeez that is a lot of elbow grease to get all that off. I have an appointment with the dealer when I get home hopefully they will not have a problem getting the new part number

Not to beat a dead horse here just picked up a new 2024 ram has 140 miles on it and it’s leaking from the transfer output shaft seal as well as it looks like the rear main haven’t pulled the inspection cover off yet but this is very disheartening after spending the money your spending!

I was told the same, rear main seal leaking. turns out it is residue from an anti corrosion. someone posted something in here about it from Mopar awhile back. I sprayed it down with brake cleaner & no more rear main leak. :)
As for the shaft leaking, join the club :(
Awesome I’ll clean it off this evening and see if it returns as for the seal I’m just going to do it at my shop as my dealer is painfully inconsistent and super slow!

It’s probably going to come back at least once or twice do some heavy towing and get the motor hot and trans hot, it’ll melt everything down. I had it on mine a couple times after some heavy tows, cleaned real good with brake clean and hasn’t returned.

Hey thanks for the tip I’m going to tow with it this weekend.

So apparently my dealer is pretty cool we buy a lot of trucks and jeeps from them I own a Mobile fleet service company. I went up there and told them about that output shaft seal leak and they just gave me one when I told them we would install it only took 15mins to install going to run the truck this week we shall see how the new seal does wish us luck.

I had the front wheels off my truck yesterday installing the level kit and got a good look at the bell housing area, and I see what I hope is only the faux main leak (the goo applied at the factory that looks like a main leak). Its kinda covered in road grime now and it doesn't look fresh, but I cleaned it up a bit and Ill keep an eye on it. The shaft seal does not appear to be leaking at all.... yet.

2024 ram 6.4 2500 leftover bought in Jan 2025. 2000 miles and I noticed the drops today on some clean concrete. Looks like it’s been leaking for a couple weeks. I have zero faith in dealing with my local dealers, it was hard enough to purchase the truck.

I use the truck everyday for my business and can’t afford to lay it up this time of year. I’m a mechanic by trade thinking about just purchasing the seal, swapping it in myself, topping off the fluid and hoping it’ll last.

Anyone have an “updated” part number if there even is one? Hate to have this become a monthly service item. I tried looking on rockauto but the seal isn’t even listed on there.

At a quick glance looks like just un bolt driveshaft from rear pinion, slide shaft out of tcase, pop seal out and reinstall?

Local dealers need to make an appointment 1-3 days to diagnose where the leak is calling from and then additional time to replace it. All local dealers 2-4 weeks out. Unreal.

Ordered 2 seals from a local old school auto parts store and a few qts of amsoil atf to replace and top off.

Dealer wanted 100+ for the seal and 80$/qt for the BW special oil. Crazy times

Hope this helps anyone that gets in a jam like I was.

68161329AA is the mopar seal

710943 is the National seals number

I ended up ordering 2 National seals from my local auto parts store just to have one as a spare. Cost me less than 80$ for 2. This may be the seal that mopar uses not sure im hoping it isn’t and that I have better luck with this one.

Install took an hour or so. I picked up a 3” piece of pvc ( 3 1/2” OD 3” ID) and used it to drive the seal in it fit and worked perfectly for this use. I used dish soap On the rubber cone dust shield and slipped the pvc over it and sent it in worked out very well.

put about 50 miles on the truck today and it’s nice and dry still hopefully stays that way. I ended up draining and filling the transfer case with amsoil atf that met the spec of the BW oil. Much cheaper I believe it was 18$/qt. Transfer case held approximately 2 qts for me.

I hope urs isn’t a main seal leak!

Uh, thanks for that. I hope the same. I have a feeling, if its a main leak, it would look more "fresh" and I probably would have seen some drips under the truck by now.
Agreed or at least you would think so right? I haven’t checked mine yet just did a big towing trip. But I have also read on some other posts if you use a black light or uv light it should glow if it’s the packing goo.

Well update in mine. I need a new torque converter, I have the drive shaft seal leaking, and the transfer case seal leaking. Lord only knows when the parts will come in

Haha just kidding they are doing a whole new tranny not sure how they got that approved but they said they would have to drop the transmission to replace the other parts so it would be easier to just put in a new transmission. Doesn’t make sense to me but im also not a mechanic
