Clicking after shutting off engine

There isn’t a mechanism that your mechanic describes. Is he talking about the egr bypass valve? Passenger side, has a exposed steel cable attached to it?

Actually...

There is a throttle body valve on the 6.7L

Does that shut off the truck though? His mechanic describes it like a shut off solenoid on a 12 valve.

No, it doesn't. It's primary purpose is to create differential pressure to help the EGR flow farts back into the engine.

However, I believe it does close on engine shut down to "assist" and/or prevent any potential engine runaway if that were to occur.

Point being, the "noise" is probably coming from the "mechanism" his mechanic mistakenly identifies. Component does exist, just not what he thinks it is.

So the clicking sound after shutdown is the DPF pump... or, its the EGR purge... or, its the radiator shutter (whatever that is). Hmmm ok, we can all assume one of those is correct... or, maybe not.
The sound comes underneath the truck. It must be something to do with dpf or egr then.
