2nd time this has happened . Def gauge gets down to just over a quarter next thing I know it shows empty and starts telling me I need to add DEF . Last time it happened I drove down to get some DEF it slowly started going back up and the low DEF icon went out . Drive time was about 10 minutes . I put in more Def and the gauge went up to where it should be relative to the amount put in . Sensor replacement due ?

This happened to me once about a year ago (weather was warm) - never happened again for me - I would monitor it address it if it keeps happening.

This is the second time and it happens when the gauge is between a quarter and a half . I shall see if it happens again and then see the dealer if under the extended warranty .

Sometimes you can get some crystals in the sensor focus tube that take some time to work their way out.

I forgot to ask you earlier, what model year and how many miles on the truck?

2020 63 k. I did buy some additive that is supposed to decrystalize the sensors . I will see how that goes .
