In Preface, the truck is a 2022 RAM 2500 Mega Cab Limited Cummins 4x4 purchased brand new in May of 2023. As of this moment the truck has 15,677 miles on it. Truck has been nothing but an electrical nightmare since day 1. Number 1 issue has been the 12 inch screen and its wanting to do whatever it wants to do randomly. This spread into other features randomly not working like audio control buttons on steering wheel. Soon after random issues with backup sonar system sometimes working and sometimes not. Add in the Passenger front window that would go down normal speed but barely be able to have the strength to raise itself up and often trip itself out and go back down. I run 2 cell phones, one personal and one for my business. The system will randomly connect and disconnect to the phones to bluetooth and switch screens showing bluetooth lost connection with phone and to go to device manager screen, CONSTANTLY. Android auto has been next to impossible to use due to these issues and it is the most necessary app to run because RAM's Navigation software system is the stupidest system I have ever seen.
Fast forward several months and several visits to a local dealership. They would do nothing about the window issue on pass. side saying nothing was broken so they can not initiate service (B.S.) Had them look into the insane regen frequency (90-120 mile intervals). No fix. After a couple visits they finally initiated a STAR case on the radio system for the random screen changes, tuner going wild, connection issues, etc. Finally installed a new radio in it at roughly 7 or 8 k miles I think. During all of this I worked with Ram Cares and opened a case with them. Eventually was assigned a case specialist or something like that. Of course, the case manager was located overseas and nearly impossible to understand via phone conversation so email was main form of contact. All emails saved by the way.
Well, fast forward some more and the radio issues were not resolved and eventually continued to get worse. Even when plugged into USB ports in dash the connections would cut and skip out like crazy. During this stretch my personal phone was replaced with a new one. Had Samsung Galaxy ZFold 3 and now Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Well same issue with new phone. Tried not running second phone on the system and still the same. Grew tired of this dealership and their lack of action and poor attitude so took it to another. Also the communication with case manager was beginning to get more involved. I said I am trying to run a business and this truck is an integral part of this business towing the equipment between jobsites. After probably 8 to 10 dealer trips at this point I said that when this truck goes in for service I need an equivalent truck that can pull 15,000 plus pound trailer setups every time this thing is in for service. She said they will take care of me and I just need to take the truck in for service. Went to the dealer and they do not have this type of loaner vehicle and when dealer's service manager talked with regional RAM service rep they said that RAM only covers $45 per day for rental which does not get you a 2500/3500 truck. So lies from Ram Cares. I demanded that one of the following option happen: 1. RAM buy their lemon back immediately. or 2. RAM fix the truck and while it is in the shop for any service and equivalent truck be provided to me to conduct my business. After repairs complete RAM provide me with 5 year/100,000 mile $0 deductible fully transferrable bumper to bumper warranty to cover future issues with their lemon. or 3. Continue on as they are doing and I will file a complaint with NHTSA for the random screen changes that are a huge distraction to the driver. I would also hire an attorney and sue for cost of vehicle, lost income, expenses incurred, and any court costs associated. I would also join every social media platform available to me and tell my story, post GoPro video footage of what is happening, and make them famous.
A few weeks later her alloted time for the case must have expired and she closed the case saying I could reopen a new case if it was not resolved. New dealer had new STAR case opened and did another radio swap and this did nothing but make the problem worse. Brought it back to dealer just a week and a half or so ago for another round and another STAR case. They replaced the USB hub setup in the center stack area. Got it back and did not even make it out of the parking lot before it faulted out. Dealer gave me printouts of STAR publications related to issues like this and I went through those suggested steps and now it has gotten 10 times worse. This thing is barely tolerable to drive.
NHTSA complaint has been filed since this latest round. New RAM cares case started. Surprisingly, have not heard a single word out of them. LOL. Do they want to do this the hard way?
Is anybody else having this much trouble with these things? BTW, during the last stretch while dealer and RAM engineering were troubleshooting and doing the USB port thing, they gave me a brand new 2025 RAM 1500 Laramie with that version of the big screen radio. I had that loaner for about 8 days and a little over 350 miles. My phone connected flawlessly to this truck every single time. Music played off phone app never skipped or cut out 1 single time. Worked perfect. So the phone is not the problem.

You really think you would get a lemon buy back because of radio issues…..

Google AI has this within a millisecond and probably a totally incorrect bull manure response to Ram trucks and your model of phone issues...

Summary:

The user has had ongoing electrical issues with their 2022 RAM 2500 Mega Cab Limited Cummins 4x4 since purchasing it brand new in May 2023. Despite multiple dealership visits and interactions with RAM customer support, the primary problems persist, including a malfunctioning 12-inch screen, unreliable audio control buttons, backup sonar system, and a passenger front window that struggles to raise. Bluetooth connectivity for both personal and business phones is erratic, severely hindering the use of Android Auto.

Efforts to resolve these issues include several STAR cases and radio replacements, but the problems have only worsened. The user's case with RAM Cares resulted in unfulfilled promises regarding loaner vehicles and service resolutions. Due to the truck's integral role in their business, the user demanded that RAM either buy the truck back, fix it with an extended warranty, or face legal action and public exposure.

Despite filing a complaint with the NHTSA and opening new cases with RAM Cares, the issues remain unresolved, leading to further frustration and dissatisfaction. The user even demonstrated that their phone is not the problem by successfully connecting it to a loaner 2025 RAM 1500 Laramie without issues.

User's Frustrations:

  1. Malfunctioning 12-inch screen and associated features.
  2. Erratic Bluetooth connectivity affecting business operations.
  3. Unresolved window and backup sonar system issues.
  4. Inconsistent dealership support and broken promises from RAM Cares.
  5. Ongoing electrical issues despite multiple service attempts.

Do what most people do trade it in or sell it.

Yeeesh... Can't imagine the mindset of a person dropping by an enthusiast forum to complain. He must be a real treat.

This is exactly what you should not-do when you need resolution.

It will be a GMC and it will happen as soon as I can get this piece of **** off my back.

Well, do not cry when you have issues there too. I had (3) 2024 DRW trucks that all had mechanical issues with less than 1500 miles on all 3.

They all had bad intermediate shafts and Front Hub Extensions. One truck had a front drive shaft that would make a thump thump noise when you let off the fuel. Watson Chevy here in Tucson tried 3 drive shafts and they all did the same, so on the 3rd oner they shimmed the transfer case per the GM engineers and called it good.

Oh the best part of the chevy truck was the front doors - they flexed over bumps so badly they sounded like metal on metal .

I have owned all Rams previously and after that fiasco with Chevy I would take some Uconnect issues over mechanical any day. I love this 2024 Ram DRW - hasn't spent any time at the dealer service!!

I can kinda tell from your first post - " you are that guy" - easily triggered and jump off the edge and threaten to sue when things don't seem to be going your way...saving emails, going to get a Go-Pro and make em "famous" yada yada. I am sure the service department loves you.

Well Big boy post some videos - I would love to see these "disastrous" issues.

Well Tony T,
I have tried in good faith for a more than adequate amount of time to give them the benefit of the doubt and allow them the time to fix it. That time and my patience has run out. And when a company builds a piece of junk, contemplates the buyback, then decides not to because they want to try to fix the problem, and then can not and prolongs my pain and suffering and costs my business time and money that is where my patience runs out.

The purpose of my post was to lay out the issues and find out whether others have had similar issues along with telling my experince with the company and their customer service. What is the appropriate amount of time to sit there and get kicked in the nuts repeatedly by a vehicle manufacturer in a rocket scientist like your mind?

Some Highlights or perhaps lowlights? Paraphrasing ahead....

"Number 1 issue has been the 12 inch screen"
"Finally installed a new radio in it"
"Repairs attempted by 2 different dealers"
"I will file a complaint with NHTSA"
"Join every social media platform available to me and tell my story, post GoPro video footage of what is happening, and make them famous"
"They gave me a brand new 2025 RAM 1500 Laramie with that version of the big screen radio. Worked perfect."

Sorry your infotainment system isn't working. As you can see from your loaner experience, they do work, you just got a bad one.

Try and try again with another dealer or get out of the truck if you are that soured on the experience. SH*T happens.

Costs my business time and money that is where my patience runs out.
As someone who drives alot for work and has for many years, I don't know that a faulty infotainment system ever cost me money.

I read through your first post and the only thing that caught my attention was the door. That should have been replaced or at least repaired. It sucks that the dealerships couldn't fix that issue. But you seem more irritated about the radio?
