Can you add things like the banks intake elbow (mainly for the elimination of the bolt breaking issue on the grid heater) and a banks intake air box setup without compromising the factory warranty? I’m a diesel tech by trade for a heavy equipment dealer and I know some claims can be rejected because of any modifications even if they have literally nothing to do with what failed. It’s like battling an insurance company to provide coverage sometimes i feel like. I was wondering if anyone has experience with this?

Depends on the dealer and how much you want to fight…. You could just get the BD diesel grid heater fix its 200$ and you get to keep a good heater not the little turd that comes with the banks….

The grid heater bolt only fails if the grid heater solenoid sticks on so if you have a 21+ you wont have that issue since they switched to a solid state Relay instead of the solenoid they used since 1989

The banks elbow and intake are known for other CEL issues due to flow, I’m not sure it’s worth it. Plenty of cheaper and easier ways to prevent a grid heater bolt failure.

Well I like cheaper. I don’t plan to tune the truck. And as I’ve done more looking online the factory elbow flows adequate for stock power. It seems like there’s just an issue after a while the egr just plugs everything up. Say what you will about dpfs/scr but the worst horsepower robbing emissions device has got to be that blasted egr. Slowly choking the engine to death. You try eating half your own crap every day and see how peppy you feel after a while.
