*Breaking News* 2025 Orders from MARK DODGE **

Thank you. some years only allowed it with the PTO option, or some other combination of things. A few years required the dealer to turn it on. It sounds like everything recent has it.

I think it was standard in 2010 for the auto. Prior to 2010 there were some years where it had to be enabled for auto’s, which was easy with a tuner like a Smarty, and manuals needed the “PTO” pin on the ECM grounded. I can’t recall if 04.5 or 05 was the first year.

My 04.5 HO/48RE didn't have it as new but later could via an ECM update (lame reverse horn-honk recall included IIRC) to enable it. I passed.

I seem to recall if I had done it sooner, before the seat belt thing, it was possible.

It's pretty much my hottest topic for the 25MY

RAM seems to struggle with how to deal with the idea of a 3500 SRW crew / megacab daily driver with a good ride and load carrying capacity.

Maybe they can call it a "3000" or "4000" something to break through the mental block, or 3000 / 4000 power wagon megacab ?

Please pull it out of purgatory and bring it to market.

I looked yesterday, and they finally removed the air suspension options on the build and price to match the code guides. I'm feeling like my hopes aren't terribly high for it to be available on the build I want : (

This would be a big miss on RAMs part. RAM isn't competing on overall power. Not competing on modern CABs. Not competing on payload or towing capacity. So what are they competing on? They definitely look better, but that's subjective. The interior looks better, but they completely missed the chance to make it even better in this refresh. The levelling really is something I wanted for multiple reasons, but slide in campers aren't light, and push the limit of 2500 (I'm also doing a PXL conversion), so 3500 is the way I need to go and not having a load level is a big miss. If I wasn't dead set on a PXL conversion, I would have gone Ford.

You know you can quite easily add aftermarket airbags (i.e Firestone) for about $500ish with an hour or 2 of labor to install.

Air Logic makes a really good airbag kit for the rams. I have had the OEM air suspension on all my rides previously. I decided to do the Carli progressive deavers and Carli long travel air bags with AirLogiq compressor. The truck will definitely ride better. The Carli bags and springs do lift rear 2” but will provide a better ride than both options.

Why are you dead set on PXL conversion? Not trying to steer you away from Ram if thats what you want but curious what has you dead set on PXL.

Will be doing some long off road trips (multi state) and a few of my friends have one. They love it. They rave about it's reliability and ability to get over some obstacles. Obviously not the same as a Jeep with lockers and disconnecting sway, but very good for long range trips. Also (I may get flamed here), but I love the look and.. the heart wants what the heart wants.

That said, I've also looked heavily at the AT4X as we well - and the Tremor versions of the 250. I'm not 100% decided on the PXL but it's heavily what I want. I've been told by AEV peeps that RAM plans to release the air levelling for the SRW, but for some reason it's not yet available. Who knows.

This is my opinion on why it’s not offered on 3500 SRW.. Lots of peeps buy these 1 ton trucks and think they can haul a 95hp skid steer or a RV with 3500 pin weight. The minute they hook up to these trailers that are way over payload it throws Air suspension code and light come on. They take it to dealer pissed that air suspension is broke when in reality the truck is over loaded. I have seen this on multiple occasions. The 3500 dually with significant more payload does not have this issue. This is the same situation for the 2500 mega that has 1700 payload. The salesman can always tell them you need a 3500 for that load. The peeps selling these trucks are not pointing to the payload sticker and explaining 3800 includes your passengers and pin weight. I have someone I know that just got a 3500 and has had it in service multiple times saying air suspension is broke.. Yet I watch them load a double tandem trailer with 95hp skid steer.. I really like the air suspension offered as it is hands free. The aftermarket offers great alternative without your truck having a sensor for overload. Can you imagine the amount of service tickets generated from this? The customer will come back and say my ford f350 pulls with zero issues.. Again this is my opinion.. I’m just guessing this is the issue as I have seen this in many cases. Most don’t even know the payload sticker exist on the driver door. Fords will start having these issues on weight scales but peeps will add airbags to correct it. The ram system just shuts down when overloaded by payload.

Splitting hairs... the post mentioned a slide-in camper and aftermarket airbags are a relatively inexpensive and effective way to help with load leveling. that's what I was commenting on.

Not really, there is a substantial difference in overall ride and handling between the two... both loaded and empty. It would be a deal breaker for me too right now if I was in the market for a new truck.

There is more to the auto-level suspension than just load leveling.

The 2500's do have an overload issue, but the 3500's don't seem to. The SRW and DRW get the same auto-level suspension, aside from a anti-spring wrap device on 23+ DRW's.

The Dually is close to 7k payload and the SRW is 3800. The programming for overload is significantly different and the Dually spring pack is larger.

Payload, which can be over 4K on the SRW, is not the number that matters. What matters is RAWR, but even then the suspensions aren't different.

The DRW auto-level spring pack is not any larger than the SRW auto-level spring pack, aside from the anti spring wrap leaf that isn't for payload support. There have been small revisions to the leaf packs since it was released, but the current part number is backwards compatible and applies to SRW and DRW 3500's.

I haven't seen anything definitive that suggests the programming is any different SRW vs DRW on the auto-level, but there likely is something. I've had mine significantly overweight and it works like advertised. It stands to reason there is an overload message difference, but it's north of 7.5K, maybe 7.75K, RAW (RAWR of 7K) from what I have seen on my SRW. I had 4K in the bed and it auto-leveled just fine. Empty RAW is ~3500 and the CG was just aft of the axle so some weight was pulled from the front axle too.

My 2020 3500 Mega Cab has the rear auto level, and I have to say I am also sad they don't offer it anymore. My issue was, I always forgot to engage it after hooking up my boat. We have a 2019 without auto level and there at least with our truck no difference with the ride between the two when empty.

Heart wants what it wants so I cant talk you out of that but IMO you can get more from youre money throwing the Carli book at a Ram (or Ford - and if you go Tremor, get a rear locker).

All that said there is no way id order a Ram without the air setup today. It was my single largest regret when ordering my 22 3500.
