Retrofitting Homelink Garage Door Remote

Infotainment has a harness you can buy now I believe. But you tap into the power for the sunroof that is in the center console.

You will need to grab the constant, ignition and ground. Can't remember the colors off the top of my head. I believe the infotainment video shows them.

Constant is for the lighted mirror
Ignition is for the home link
Ground is shared between both

How does this answer my question?

What model truck do you have? Tradesman, bighorn? Also whats all do I need?
Big horn but they should be the same, as long as you have the over head consul the wires should be there.

I found a used homelink mirror on ebay...
Cut the end of the factory connector off splice in new lengths of wire, run to over head console and tap into harness.

Constant goes to vanity lights
Ignition to homelink
Ground is third

So you just bought regular wire and spliced it over? All three wires are spiced into one plug?

I sourced a homelink and lighted vanity sun visor on eBay and just got Infotainments wire harness to complete this on my Bighorn. Super easy other than than fishing the harness from the overhead console to the sun visor hole. Definitely worth the $100 I spent.
How much did they charge for the wiring harness? Also how do I match my black visor from a tradesman? Do the bighorns share the same black visors?

When you say ground is shared between both that means you don't need to ground when your tapping into those? So if I were to buy this
I wouldn't need to ground it if I say just tap into the ignition wire only?

It was 42.50. Is the tradesman visors like a cloth material? That's what my bighorns are. If so I would say all blacks would match.

It's a hard fabric like really hard.
Pretty sure mine are too. Just go to YouTube and search for vids of changing that visor out. Also Infotainment's YouTube channel has a video of swapping their visor out and their truck is a tradesman.

Just bought a wiring harness from infotainment.com and searching for a black sun visor on ebay and FB marketplace till I find a decent looking one.

So after going to the wrecking yard and to the dealer it seems since my truck is a tradesman the visors are a hard plastic and the ones with the Homelink controls are cloth wrapped.

Change both of them :)
Just did! Found another set that was alot cleaner. Waiting on the infotainment harness for the driver side and I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the passenger side for the vanity light.

When you did this is the homelink on ignition and the vanity light is constant? I assume you just followed the infotainment instructions? I bought the same harness.
I don't want the homelink to be constant so people could break into my car and open my garage while parked outside.

Yes I followed the video to an extent

Homelink goes to ignition so anyone who might break into your truck can't just gain access to your house
