A/C Issues? Anyone else

I live in Phoenix and it has been 110* +. I can only park outside and it is quite hot when I get in but cools off quickly, usually within a couple of miles its getting comfortable. I have never seen this condensation and I will leave it running when making a quick trip in the store.
However I am always in the mood for better AC in Arizona!
Mine does exactly how Craig explained. Ben 110* in Washington and Cali and she works like a charm, and always on duel climate zone. I do have to say , it has never frosted up windows.

2019 2500 6.4. 100 degrees outside. Fan on MAX speed all day long. Loud and annoying. Horrible A/C system. My 2000 Dakota is way colder.

I have been around these temps with my truck for the last few weeks. I am using a $10 harbor freight clamp on the line to the heater core of my $80k truck and it makes a huge difference in the AC performance. Before this, in these temps the truck would never cool off and now the fan can be turned down in about 15 minutes as I'm starting to approach the comfortable temp area.

It's been almost a month since @RamCares said they had been working on a solution. Hopefully @RamCares could provide us with an update on this?

What are the long term affects of clamping the heater core line?
Also what are the long term affects of a manual bypass on the return line.

I assume both do the same thing? Forgive me for my ignorance.

2020 2500 owner here and my ac sucks.

115 in Phoenix today and the hose clamp on the heater core line works like a charm. Sad it took a two dollar part but happy to drive in AZ heat again.
See attached. Pic of my neighbors truck.. Clamp is from Harbor freight and on one of the hoses into the heat core at the firewall. It may be the return hose but the other hose is super small and hard to get to. He tried both and it was the same effect. Dropped vent temps ranging from 8-11 degrees.
I know no one wants to do this to their new truck but if the fix doesn't come out soon then you can put an electronic or manual bypass on the heater core lines. I have done this on some previous vehicles I have owned to help with the summer heat issue.

I don't understand why other RAM trucks have no issues with the AC, how can they have a solution as a fix ? do they have different designed AC systems ? my 2020 3500 in 112 Arizona heat works great. I cant even imagine the need to clamp off a hose on a 85 K dollar truck so the air works correctly.

Im with yah Dan. I'm in California and yesterday was 114 degrees and my RV ac couldn't handle the heat and keep us cooled down enough so we jumped in the truck, turned it on high cold and vented the windows for 5 minutes and we were very cooled down. I was actually surprised considering the excessive heat how well it performed

I’ve had several concerns. One of which is the AC. this photo was taken at the dealer today. I was parked in the garage for about 15 minutes with AC on MAX and fan speed on HI. He said it should be in the 40's. I'm scheduled to come back on Monday at 7 am. The entire drive home was miserable. I understand ambient temps, cabin temps, larger volume etc. The fact of the matter is the air coming out of these vents feel warm, not even remotely close to being cold.

2020 2500 purchased 5 days ago.

i wanna add myself to the list of people that the clamp works for. i pinched shut the heater core hose and after about 10 min of the truck running with the AC on MAX the temperature dropped over 10* F

you know what funny. at work we do this to our kenworths AC/Heater system. they're all equipped with heater core valves. in the winter time we open the valve. in the summer time we close the valve.

We did the same thing to our mack trucks, made a huge difference in those for sure

I just purchased a temp gun and a heater hose shut off valve that measures 5/8” for the hose. Did I get the right size valve? Is the top hose for the heater core 5/8”?

If you have the Cummins and talking about the return line then 5/8 is the correct size.

Yes. 2020 6.7. The upper hose that was shown earlier in a picture that a user had clamped with a part from harbor freight.

Clamping that hose doesn’t affect coolant flow to the turbo does it? It only affects coolant flow into the heater core correct?

Got up to 109 today and ac performed vey well.
I don't understand why there are two different AC performances with these truck. With 90s here couple days ago at VA my wife and I were sweating our asses off. But then in here someone keep saying their truck AC are running perfectly fine. I took my truck to the dealer last month, they purge and recharged the system but everything work exactly the same...

I can't understand it either, makes no sense. I've got the fan on 4 and were using duel zone. I keep mine on low and she keeps hers on 70, she's weird I know. Oh and fyi, I don't have any extra windows tint on the windshield or front windows, just factory. Also have the sunroof , no extra tint on that either. Yes it's closed. Also got back vents open for dogs, so theres less movement in the front. I'd be p/$$=d if mine did like some of you all's. Also don't forget, all this was under a 13k loaded condition also. We need a hands up emoji, dun no
