What did you do TO your RAM today?

Attempting accent colors that are not chrome but look good on the all-black interior AND on the Maximum Steel Metallic exterior. Genesis for this was the freaking FAIL of putting high-shine chrome surrounds near the windows causing a lot of glare, especially right over the side mirrors from the AC vent surrounds, and the windshield from the center radio surround.

These were really easy to pull and paint. I’d REALLY like to do all the speaker surrounds, but I pulled on em and I think I’m missing something as far as attachment points (anyone chime in if they know how to remove the chrome speaker shrouds).

I really like this color and I’m going to eventually do the front chrome grill this color too. Might even tag the wheels if the black plasti-dip fails, and maybe the tailgate RAM.

this is EPIC. I am going to paint all my Laramie grill chrome - initially black but now I’m gonna color match some accents I’m adding. Can you give details on your process here? If it’s in your build thread just let me know. Really like the color accent. Any thoughts to the LED back lighted letters out there?
Sorry, no build thread. I bought all the badges from dealerships on eBay. As for the grill lettering, I matched the red of the other badges the best I could and that turned out to be Rustoleum Cherry. I sanded and painted the letters and then scuffed the face of the letters with 1000 grit and added black stickers from Reflective Concepts. Tow hooks are powder coated.

Retroshop.us will paint smaller pieces like trim if you want a pro job. Yours looks pretty darn good though.

Man that looks good. Do you plan to do door trim pieces as well or just leave them? I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with the yellowish surround of the media and center consoles. I thought about wrapping it carbon to match the doors but it's textured so I'd need to sand it all down. Might try it and see how it turns out.

I would like to do some of the door trim. Speaker surrounds are a huge target. The rest is more likely to be glued pieces versus snap off so there will be some chrome inside. The stereo (gold & chrome) is another big target.

Yea, we're neighbors, you must be from somewhere along the coast (Santa Cruz to Monterrey), I'm from Los Gatos, "right over the hill !!". ;)

On a different subject: earlier you quoted "I made her drive past Laguna Seca "...... that sentence brought back a good old memory !
Back in 1999: I had a 3500 Ram DRW 4x4 Diesel (pretty much like the same one's I have right now) and I had signed up for a motorcycle track day at Laguna Seca in the first week of March (right before AFM season).
Well , early that morning it rained and the track was fully soaked. The track day organizers did not anticipated to reserve / hire a track drying vehicle...... consequently, we all decided to drive our cars and trucks on the track for a good hour, just to help blow all the excess water off the track !! LOL ! So, I did run my dually for about 30 minutes at Laguna Seca Raceway, until it got a little too hard on my brakes and front tires "ESPECIALLY DOWN THE CORKSCREW !!"

It was a fun experience of a lifetime, I did unload the motorcycle(s) prior of running on the track, but I did left one of my tool box that eventually did open and spilled all the tools in the truck bed........ I did not care and kept on going since my tailgate was close an all the tools from that specific toolbox were all big size wrenches..... :D

So I'm proud to say: "I did Laguna Seca Raceway with a RAM dually !!! " LOL

That 99 RAM of my mine had a Banks full exhaust + turbo and intercooler. A stage 2 Diesel Dynamics injectors, Edge power commander, and a full ATS bulletproof transmission with the triple disk torque converter. It did real well on the track and I passed every single other truck that I came up to! It was so funny..... thanks for bringing back such good old memories !

Ohhh Mann, I wish I could of made that ride with you. Yup, forget the tools, I'm at Laguna, gas on it. We full time travel in our RV and currently around Monterey and carmel. Heading out to Bakersfield on Sunday. But this thread ain't about us, its about our trucks and boy you'll have that memory for a lifetime, congrats , you made us all proud in that 99, i had a 96 and she was a tank.
 
Firestone on-board air and 5,000# RideRite bags with remote control. Just finished installing all this and it only needs some fit and finish treatment. Finally got around to taping the front flares and installing the wheel spats. I’ve been out of commission due to elbow surgery. Would have liked to have done more but the arm wasn’t feeling it. Maybe mudflaps tomorrow View attachment 6468View attachment 6468
