Ha, to be honest, I prefer the 8.4 over the 12. I like knobs and buttons also rather than touch screen stuff.

Ok, so I apparently jinxed myself. 3 weeks of everyday driving, numerous starts and then this afternoon, I get the dreaded red tire pressure low, fill to 70 psi message and the yellow tire light. WTF. Interestingly, it's only saying the rears are low. I don't believe in coincidence generally and certainly don't with mechanical or electronic devices. I just don't understand why it went 3 weeks and then today went back to a warning.

Guess I'll pick up an alpha OBD or a Jscan at some point. There are some other things I want to adjust also so not a big deal. Is there a major difference between the two?

The warning doesn't come on until the pressure is significantly (20%?) lower than the TPMS setting. It's possible that your pressure has been on the edge of tripping it the whole time. Was the temperature a little lower today? If that were the case, then it seems odd that it happened in the afternoon instead of the morning? Static tire pressures can vary quite a bit between the sunny side of the truck and the shady side too.

Major difference is the platform.

AlfaOBD for Android or PC and JScan for iPhone.

I have both and usually use JScan for simplicity, but will also use AlfaOBD on my PC. They are both great tools.

Great, thank you. I have all Apple (iPhone, Ipad, Macbook) so looks like the JScan is the way I should go. The JScan will do same jobs as the Alpha?

Yes, it was colder today. I didn't leave the house until afternoon today.

I have both. I’d like to know which one is the cheaper investment lol

I went with AlfaOBD using my windows laptop - about $175 all in. All I have done so far is save a back-up file and change the TPMS - I didn't investigate other capability differences between the two.

https://www.obdlink.com/products/obdlink-ex/

A single Jscan license is $30-$40 less than AlfaOBD. The OBDlink EX, however, is almost $80 less than the MX+. If the usb cable doesn't bother you, then that's probably the cheapest set-up. Somebody might sell a cheaper wireless OBD adapter than the MX+, which could tip things back the other way.

Enjoy!

The vLinker MC+ is a great OBDII adapter and a lot cheaper than the OBDLink MX+ without any sacrifice in capability.
Does the Vlinker also have downloadable vehicle specific codes like the OBDlink MX+ has in the OBDLINK app?

Gonna jack the thread here but we need the vLinker OBD adapter, a bypass cable and download the app/license?
