35/12.5/17 BFG HD Terrain
thats a good looking tire buts not snow rated. I try to go with the 3 peak rated tires.35/12.5/17 BFG HD Terrain
Its very interesting its not, given the extensive siping. Must be the compound. I would like to get some more slippery road conditions in with them this winter, if it will snow around here, geesh. They are astounding in the deep stuff.thats a good looking tire buts not snow rated. I try to go with the 3 peak rated tires.
“Extensive siping” thats rich .Its very interesting its not, given the extensive siping. Must be the compound. I would like to get some more slippery road conditions in with them this winter, if it will snow around here, geesh. They are astounding in the deep stuff.
The BFG MTs have no siping at all. Those things are terrifying in anything slick.“Extensive siping” thats rich .
One little sipe through each block is not extensive its not even good. They are a borderline M/T tire and would not do good on snow or ice compared to a true winter rated A/T tire
Yes they don’t have sipes but they have a large separation in the centre lugs and the KM3 looks almost the same as the HD terrain. I actually did not mind the KM1 and KM2s in the snow and ice for a full MT tire I have not tried the KM3sThe BFG MTs have no siping at all. Those things are terrifying in anything slick.

Agreed, Duratracs are pretty good in adverse conditions. Mine are nearly worn out at 35k miles unfortunately, but I guess that a good excuse to move to 37s.Admittedly I never see much snow but I’ve been in light snow and torrential rains as well as the normal light off-roading that my tow rig sees.
Regular Duratracs have been good to me, running the same spec that comes on the tremor 250 from the factory. Only negative to report it took a few times to get them balanced well. They needed to be road force balanced. I’ll be honest, I don’t know what that means but it worked to fix the slight imbalance.

My duratracs are at 40k miles and still 40% life left. I may try them wildpeaks nextAgreed, Duratracs are pretty good in adverse conditions. Mine are nearly worn out at 35k miles unfortunately, but I guess that a good excuse to move to 37s.
That’s pretty good. To be fair, mine are 50% towing miles, and 25% offroad and aired down miles. My duratracs are at 40k miles and still 40% life left. I may try them wildpeaks next
I purchased my truck used with Nitto Ridge Grapplers 35/12.5/20. Nice looking tire for mud or rock maybe, but so so in snow. I have been thinking of going with the Falken AT4Ws next. Any thoughts on this tire for snow?I have been running Falkens at3w and now at4w on a different truck and really liked them. I have not the at4w in the snow/ice yet. The at3w was awesome. I have heard from a few friends in some early snow that at4w is not as good.
Then I saw this, which got me thinking about going back to BFG
The BFG Ko3 are also F rated which will be good and could possibly be real annoying
I think the AT4W will do good in the snow, I know they changed the compound so it wont be as good as the AT3W. It should still be one of the top AT tires for snowy conditions . If snow is your biggest concern a dedicated winter tire will be your best bet.I purchased my truck used with Nitto Ridge Grapplers 35/12.5/20. Fellow NH Power Wagon owner. Going on my 2nd Winter with the PW up here, I've been running ~34" (measured) Toyo Open Country ATIII's since the truck was new. Coincidentally have had the same tire on my Jeeps for years and they're great for snow and ice.The video near the top of this very page shows how bad the AT4W is compared to the KO3 and Firestone Destination XT - more than double the distance in the braking test, and far slower in acceleration. I would avoid in any heavy snow areas. My $.02.
