Yep, seen that and also a notice about a town truck ahead.
Agreed. Yet another false alarm from a "safety" system that will subsequently condition you to ignore it. Just like the Rear Seat Reminder Alert telling me to check the back seat for a child that doesn't exist, ensuring I unconsciously ignore all audible alerts from the truck. After enough false alerts from this for a tow truck that you can easily see ahead of you, you'll never think to check the mirror for the fire truck coming up behind you.Dear Lord, whats next. Just leave me alone
Agreed on all points. (WIth an exception for truly deaf drivers.) Sadly, the world is full of examples of people with their heads up their rears. Just read the daily news, police blotters, and current events. That's not going to change. And TBH, I don't think throwing up flashy screen notices is going to change anything, either. A guy I know told me the other day that since he got his windows tinted, it's much harder to see emergency lights further out. (That was after he accused me of not waving back to him as we passed each other, and I had to point out that with his tint, I couldn't see who was driving his truck, let alone if they were waving.)Yes, I've heard that too, but what good excuse is there for not SEEING the flashing lights? There isn't one. And do people really need to listen to the radio that loud anyway? There's a reason it's illegal to drive with headphones on. You need to hear what's going on around you.
Instead of the vehicle reminding us to be safe, maybe people should pull their heads out of their rears. Remember they're piloting a 4,000 lb missile, passing mere feet from others doing the same thing. Maybe, just maybe, we should put the phones down, look in the mirrors, watch beyond the end of the hood, and ensure we can hear (not just approaching emergency vehicles, but any indications of mechanical failure). You know, like we're actually driving, not just a passenger behind the wheel. Strange concept these days apparently.
