Hey fellas. I have 44K on my 2022 2500 now. This code popped up last night. Yesterday's high was 19°F (Palmer, AK). I guess the DEF is frozen, can't use my remote start. I use my truck for work, so not driving it is out of the question. The dealer is not able to get me in until December 27th to even look at it.

My question is, has anyone come across this before? I am assuming because the DEF is frozen, I'm going to get a countdown to limp mode soon. Will the countdown go away if I can get the DEF to thaw and ambient to see above 24°F? I don't have a garage deep enough to park in, so the truck lives outside.

Sounds like a burnt out heater not a frozen def issue.

Right. Which results in frozen DEF.

Thawing it out wont fix the count down or fault code since the countdown is for the fault code your only fix is to find the issue whether is is a bad heater (pump assembly) or a broken connection….


DEF freezes on any truck when its not running in cold weather below 11°F

Well, I drove 3 hours yesterday. Its 3° right now. Still haven't gotten the countdown.

Dealer said they will give me a rental after it breaks down. I have another 3 hour drive home this afternoon. We will see what happens I guess

It may take a bit for the count down but it should happen if its anything like the others I have seen with the same code

So far I'm right at 1000 miles since the code popped up. Still no countdown. Refilled the DEF yesterday and drove 400 miles south, so it's still dosing.
