Great looking truck! I have a similar, ‘22 MegaCab Night Edition in Maximum Steel Metallic. I am looking to do the same exact setup that you are running. I’d like to ask how different was the ride from the stock ride? Is your current setup stiffer, firmer? Is it smoother or a bit rougher? Is the steering heavier? Do you trailer at all and if so how has it affected that part? I pull trailers occasionally, maybe once every 1-2 weeks with material and a dump trailer, max weight around 14K, but average is usually around 8K. Any feedback would be great as I want to make sure I do not regret my decision. Thank you.

Honestly with a 2500 I wouldn't go to 37's unless you plan on re-gearing towing that much. If it was an HO with an Aisin I'd say send it and don't worry, but the 68RFE's aren't nearly as stout. The 8k trailers I wouldn't sweat, but 14K + 68rfe + 37's + stock gears is not a good mix IMO. I'm mostly Thuren on my truck and the ride is much better than stock even on 35's (towing on stock gears + I like having a full size spare). 37s will ride just a touch "softer" with the extra side wall, however, you should also consider how you use your truck. If my truck didn't tow our 40 ft Jayco I'd have no qualms about 37's since all the other trailers I tow are around 8k or lower, but with the big loads I don't want to roast my 68, I like having a full sized spare under the truck, and I don't want to pay for gears ATM.

Thank you for the advice. I have a 3500, but I don’t think that makes a difference on the gears does it? I don’t have the HO engine as I did not think it was worth the cost when I ordered my truck. I used to have a 3950 Grand Design, but no longer have it and plan to go Class A if we get back into an RV so not worried about that. I never thought about the tranny to be honest so thank you for bringing that up. If you think of anything else let me know. Thanks!!!

If you've got an SO then you basically have a 2500 with leafs. Not to disparage the SO/RFE - I know plenty of guys who have put tons of miles on em towing and working them, but you just have to considerate. It's not like the HO/Aisin combo where you can jack it up, put it on 37's, and add more power towing heavy loads without doing other stuff. An Aisin will handle it, but you'll blow up a 68 if you don't regear the truck. It is nice that we get 3.73's from the factory now which aligns with the RevMax warranty and 35's. I try to follow what RevMax says for taking care of a 68 (even stock) and it hasn't failed me yet.

Got it. When I first registered on here I had a 2500 on order and then changed it to a 3500 because of the 5th wheel, just never changed my user name. So in terms of gears, I should regear to a 3.42 if I go with 37’s? I really prefer the look of the 37’s over the 35’s. How much of a hit did your fuel economy take when you went to the bigger tires?

Actually, you want to regear to 4.10 [personally, I would go to 4.30 for 37's].

For 37's, if you want to keep the towing capacity, I'd honestly go to 4.30 or even 4.44's if it was my truck. The extra weight of the 37's will add additional load in addition to the diameter/ratio change. I lost a few MPG's with my big fat 36x13 Toyos, but I'm going to be dropping back down to a 285/75R18. On the highway I can still get between 17-19, but around town is where I took the big hit (average about 13 mixed). Towing is miserable (about 6-8), but that should pick up once I'm on a more sensible tire for our big bumper pull. I also keep my speed down around 60 just because of the added load of the heavy tires. Next set of tires will likely be AT4W's so I should pick up some MPG between weight, aggressiveness, and diameter/width.

RevMax actually suggests 4.30 to 4.56's if you want to retain the warranty on one of their tranny's with 37's.

I installed 4.44s with Toyo Mt 40x13.50s, wouldn’t want that deep with 37s. It was happy with the 40s in that gear

Got it. Which gear do you think would help most with the speedometer? I imagine with 37’s it’ll be way off of the actual speed.

How did you get your full size spare under there? I have

how were you able to get the full size spare mounted? I have 295/65/20 all 4 and a 285/75/18 (using stock spare wheel) and I was told it didn’t fit without bending the heat shield and some frame piece is in the way

You need to carry a compressor IMO. Right now I'm not carrying a full size spare, but I'll be tossing one up in the spring. To fit one of my current 285/75R18 KO3s up there it had to be deflated, but I carry a compressor with me so it's not a big deal. I'd rather inflate a tire than play musical wheels if I get a flat on one of my rears.

Didn’t consider that, I don’t think the tech did either. I have a Lowe’s tire inflator so something’s better than nothing. Thanks for the info!
