Got an email from RAM Services - Triggered Alert Powertrain - Malfunction Indicator Light But I have no light is this marketing BS?

This morning, I received an email from RAM Service stating that I had a triggered Alert regarding my (1) Powertrain - malfunction indicator light but the truck shows no engine malfunction light. And email has a link to schedule service.

When out started truck today - no saved messages - no light on. Is this just something to get me into the Dealership, some marketing BS?

My truck only has 4,593 miles, it's a 2023 2500. On the email it say Vehicle data last updated 11/10/2023. I was driving it the whole weekend and no light came on, don't know what's up with that.

Anyone else have anything like this happen? PDF attached.

Thanks,

Dave

Had the truck scanned, no codes, still no light. Should I contact RAM Service and ask them to remove the alert? Or does it matter? I don’t want any problems in the future if I do really need service. Dave

That is weird..... are trucks reporting codes OTA now?? I didn't know that.

While installing and setting up my dashcam I had the truck in “run” with the engine off for a while. Later I got that same (or similar) alert. Went out and started the truck but no MIL, shortly after I got a health report stating the issue was cleared. A couple days later I did the same thing and got the email alert again which cleared after I started the truck.
I’m thinking it’s just a nuisance kind of thing rather than a true problem.

I’ve had that notice come through via email a couple of times the past week. Zero CEL set and nothing stored in messages. I haven’t tried scanning for pending codes yet, but I suspect that will come up empty.

The timing seems really random as to when I’ll get the email.

I got this too on my 2024, scanned and no codes. I think you are right, I had left it on run without starting, MIL blinked a few times and beeped but no codes. Started it and no light nor stored codes.

I’ve had this happen twice now. The first time is when the windows were being tinted and the second time is when they were undercoating the truck. I suspect it was the ignition on for a prolonged period of time. I ignored it both times because I checked for codes with my scangauge, no engine light was on, and there were no codes present or pending; ignore it unless you see an actual light.

Also just realized this thread is about a year old thanks op for luring me in

I am glad someone bumped this. I got the same mystery email and never had a light or problem that I knew of and nothing on my online dashboard so it self cleared on it's own. I had left the ignition on for a long time without running while I stayed in the truck talking on the phone so like others I bet that was it. Soon, I may try leaving the ignition on again to see if I can recreate the code.

This happened to me too. I purchased a 24 and my 23 went to my wife. We sat in the truck for a few minutes while I walked her through all the features getting her profile setup etc. That evening I got this message and it was from sitting in run for too long.

I too have gotten these mystery emails and texts, with no MIL light on my 23 2500 BH. I have also been having issues with the crappy UConnect, and these might be related. My Dealer ran codes before and after replacing the UConnect module and harness...

Got 1 email from RAM and several alerts from the app stating I had a check engine light. The check engine light was not on so I decided to do a scan and there was a code for DPF Performance. Dealer could not find any issues, wasn't a wasted trip because I had a recall that needed to be done.

Service manager called me a week later to make sure everything was OK and said they see and are annoyed about the false alerts they get.

I’ve been getting them off an on (as noted either in this thread or another similar one) for quite some time now. It seems the theory of allowing the BCM to ‘time out’ when the ignition is on the ‘ACC’ position may be relatively true. As I’ve noted an increase in those type of notifications when I allow it to do.

That said, I did get a CEL (P2002) after a funky regen cycle the other day. Already have an appointment at the dealer this coming week.

And guess what? No notification email from the app stating the light is on lol.

Go figure….unreal lol

I was in East Texas on a hunting trip and tried to recreate the code. I had the ignition on talking on the phone and let it time out. I hit the ignition again to get back on and instead of a code it created a theft alarm.
