6.4 Hemi variable displacement technology is not mentioned in the users manual. And I have read threads about it and the controversy. All I am trying to find out is does the dash provide an indicator when it is activated. Nothing in the manual on this either. Now I am reading the chapters relevant to my trucks build. But in a couple brief scans didn't see it in the other Dashboard descriptions.

thanks
Tom

It should show an ECO light somewhere. Might need to turn it on in the dash menu.

It does display "eco" on the dash when MDS is activated.......

Which is pretty infrequently with 4.10's

I have had now 3 6.4's with MDS 2016, 2021, 2024 and have had no issues with any of them other than a mouse ate the wires off of an MDS solenoid under the intake on the 2016.

Interesting that you say with 4.10s MDS engages infrequently, unless I am misunderstanding your statement.

I think my 6.4 with 4.10s engages the MDS pretty regularly and I’m happy with it. I seem to remember the 6.4s with 3.73s not engaging MDS and not shifting into 8th gear until like 70 mph.

Yes that is what I'm saying.

I have had 1-3.73 and 2-4.10 , according to my driving style (not necessarily yours or anyone else) I rarely see the MDS activated.

I'm perfectly happy with the function of the MDS, so much so in fact I don't care if it ever comes on, as long as it doesn't throw a code.

Yes you can turn the eco light off and on. I prefer it off. Don't care if or when it goes into MDS.
I beleive i turned it off in one of the menus in the EVIC display.

I like MDS for the gas savings. My 15 PW had the 6-speed, and I hardly ever saw it go into MDS. My current truck is a Regular Cab with 4:10s and 33-inch tires, and I see it go in all the time. I think the 8-speed makes a big difference in how often it goes in. Even with my custom loud exhaust, I don't mind MDS.

Same, MDS kicks on a fair bit for me under light throttle and coasting. 2019 with 4.10s and 35” tires. Doesn’t really bother me. Also doesn’t really seem to make it much more efficient lol.

I know the 5.7s have cam oiling issues some attribute to MDS, but I haven’t really heard about it on the 6.4s not sure what is different

Is there a maximum speed parameter for the MDS? Mine doesn’t seem to come on over 55 mph.

Mine will come on at 70 if the load on the engine is light enough like on flat ground and an empty truck and no trailer.
