I was under the dash of my 2022 Ram 2500 - Limited w/ 6.7 and noticed this set of bundled wires. I am curious as to what they are for...

They are just to the right and slightly infront of the brake pedal. I attempted a few times to get better picks but the space makes it difficult. 1000008654.jpg1000008656.jpg

Nope, stock. Bought with less than 20 miles on it.

I was tempted to do that, i didnt feel like ruining my PTO day with that chaos.

honestly, i dont know of anything that would have a fuse on it like that, let alone going through the firewall which i assume goes to the battery. if it has a fuse it can be pulled with out any issues i suspect. the plug coming off it has a single power wire it looks like. can you follow that wire up anywhere? it looks like its going to up into the dash. the fact its using a tie wrap seems suspect to me. and there is something there with a light on it. is it possible this is a dealer installed tracking device? just tossing ideas out there. when i go out to my truck in a few ill peep under my dash on the new truck but i know my 21 nor the 18 had anything like that

Lo-jack the track has lo-jack installed from the dealer. I bet thats it.

It does has a back maybe 2in x1in by 1/2in box with a red and blue indicator light on it.

Its freakin lo-jack. I bet you.

man that is about the most obvious way to disable it ever haha. at least tuck it out of site.

I recall dealerships putting stand alone GPS trackers on high end vehicles. Have you clipped the zip tie and see where the wires end up?

Thats a GPS tracker, if you are high risk financing you are legally required to keep it in (you would have signed an agreement) if you are not high risk financing rip that crap out

Interesting I dont remember signing that form, nor would i think my wife are high risk finance risks. Lastly it was financed from the dealer via our Credit Union.

Guess i will swing by the dealer this week and confirm lo-jack vs. GPS tracker.

It’s a tracker, but it’s definitely not Lo-jack.

Some dealers install those on all their inventory, because it costs them like $20. Rip it out and toss it in the trash.

This. And they don't want to pay someone again to rip it out.

The new Kia we got for the wife had one under the hood, stuffed in next to the battery. Dealer finance guy try to play some BS Shenanigans on the finance docs too and I nixed that. Sales guy said they put them on every vehicle now and have even recovered a stolen one using it. The brand was IKON.

I'd be pissed if they used a wire tap and cut any factory wiring insulation. At least on the Kia, they ran a wire straight to the battery and ground and didn't mess with any wiring.

from my service guy at the dealer, who has been great so far...

"We can get the GPS tracker removed no problem, I know sometimes they can be a little more involved than originally anticipated so I would say worst case scenario the labor to have it removed and the harness re-wrapped and tucked back into factory placement would be $338.
The GPS device they provide as an added piece of protection on the vehicle. Its nothing the dealership is able to track. Once the vehicle is out of our inventory our systems are blocked from accessing the KAHU or LoJack (GPS device).

"

I wont be paying to have that removed. they can replace the harness on their own dime. For now the fuse is out.

Mu dealer tried to put one on my truck, and wanted me to pay first it. I told them when I ordered it, I didn't want any extras installed by them. When I found out it was on my bill, I told them NO, and to remove it as I had stated to them in the begging I didn't want it. So they removed it with no cost to me.

I'd complain and make them remove it at their cost. You didn't ask for it to be installed, so you are not responsible to pay the cost of removal of THEIR equipnent.

It was def added before I even saw the truck. I bought the truck told them I did not need it detailed washed anything. Signed all the papers and took the keys. but you are right. It will be removed at their cost.

My Service Advisor is asking some questions. Like I said, he is a good guy, he will do the right thing.
