Hello fellow RAM lovers.

I am considering a 2019 RAM (2500) Sport diesel with 19,500 miles and a 2022 RAM (2500) Big Horn diesel with 26, 271 miles. The 2019 is priced at $ 44,500.00 and the 2022 is priced at $ 46,800.00.

Any advice?

The price and mileage is close, but one is 3 years newer. I'd go with newer. Of course, there are lots of other factors that may be important to you such as color and options... do you have the VIN numbers? you could use https://windowstickerlookup.com/ to lookup the exact options they were built with. Another factor for me is whether they have been modified, I would choose the 'stock' one. Also, avoid if they have been in a wreck, several easy ways to tell...

Sorry about that. Are there mechanical differences (better or worse) between the 2019 and the 2022? In other words, is one year better than the other in your opinion?

Id go with the 19. The 22s seem to be more problematic from my observations most 22 owners seem to experience lots of frequent regens among other small complaints i see over the 2019s. Make sure the 19 has had the CP4 recall and the DEF recall completed and that would be the truck i would go with personally.

like h3l said, you couldnt pay me to get a 22 after everything ive seen here. 22's are the common theme to problems.

2019 has the cp4. id look for a 2018 or a 2021 if buying used.

Agree with H3l.

I bought a 22 on purpose because I wanted a CP3, of course 2 weeks later they recall all of the 19-20s and give them a CP3.

While I love my truck, it's definitely a piece of ****. Personally the "4.5 gen" in general sucks. Wish I'd have bought a 2018 lol.

19-20 were recalled they all got CP3s some may still need to have the recall performed but most have been done at this point

Get a better price on the 19.

I'd avoid 22's as well until they sort out the regen issues.

Had. if there's a 19 or 20 out there without a CP3 recall pump installed, shame on the owner. If it's a dealer truck, it's not possible to sell with an open recall.

Also looking at 2023 Big Horn (with tons of added options) with only 11000 miles at $ 50,000.00. Does the 2023 have the same issues as the 2022?

2019 was the height of the Covid epidemic. In the RV business, people have told me not to buy one built in 2019. I feel the same about trucks.

What?

Better check your dates.

I ordered a truck in Jan 2020 before Covid became a thing. It was late Jan - Feb timeframe before poo started hitting the proverbial fan. I believe I travelled all the way up to April before it fell off.

WHO declared a pandemic Mar 11, 2020. States began lockdowns mid Mar.

My truck built in Feb 2020 has been great.

What are you going on about? 2019 was before Covid anyone who told you not to buy a 2019 RV is high.

Nope its been since 08 that campers have become worse.

my 2020 has held up. but also there are a bunch of trailer companies that build subpar crap. most out of GA
I know what you are saying but my point is they all took a dive since 08. But there has always been the crappy ones. I would be surprised if any of these 08+ trailers are around in 20+ years. My 97 jayco designer is all marine plywood and built though its 27 years old and still in great shape.

ill have to see what year the 400$ camper is at the bottom of my hill is. i stripped the inside out and turned it into a shed / bee hive for car parts and what not. as bad as i tore into that thing im posstive i could tow it cross country and lose minimum parts off it lol. i was in there yesterday and it still is keeping the water out. The frame on that thing is insane beef. if i ever finish cleaning it out i might take the bob cat to it and take it to bare frame and see about building a 30ft car hauler out of it. not like i need another trailer.
