A/C Issues? Anyone else

I have no complaints with my AC living here in SC. I added 70% Crystalline to the windshield and 40% to the front drivers and passenger windows which has made a huge difference in cab temps.

I live on the SE coast of NC.
Tint law for NC
Tinted windows cannot measure darker than 32 percent with a North Carolina-approved window tint meter. The tint on a windshield cannot extend more than 5 inches below the top of the windshield or below the AS1 line of the windshield, whichever is longer.
Besides that I have a yukon, altima and my 2003 all have better a/c

For what I paid for the truck my a/c should work correctly no matter were I live without paying extra for tint or rigging it with a harbor freight clamp

I have heard it mentioned about frost/condensation on the windshield. I took this picture Friday night. The windshield was clear until we stopped for about 5 minutes. This happens consistently when it's hot and humid out and the truck sits with the AC running for a bit. I have never had a truck seem to "leak" so much AC air through the defroster. Mine does the same, even while driving in slow traffic.

Yeah I hear what you’re saying and I guess some owners are less than satisfied with their AC performance. As for the tint laws I’m guessing you always drive the speed limit as well.

Or unaware of the fact that window film technology has advanced to allow a clear film which reduces both heat and UV transmission to the cabin.

Great question, @2019_Ram! At this time since the fix is still in development there isn't official documentation (eg: STAR case #, TSB, etc.) Please know that once this is available we will post it out here.

I just had a chance to follow up with you on that thread, @99ls1tj! Happy to help try and get that solved for you!!

@RamCares any update on the release of a solution for the AC?

You honestly expect a resolution in two weeks?
I'd be surprised to see anything in 3-4 months...
Huh, I didn't see anything in the Ram Care post that they only started working on a fix two weeks ago. They've known about the problem on HDs for about a year and a half and a very similar issue on the 1500s for a little longer than that.

I live is southern Arizona with this week up to 110 degrees and no issues what so ever with AC. I find it just crazy that some people are having issues and others are not. 2020 3500 mega cab.

Mine actually works better now after a year, but it definitely isn't as cold as my 2016 was. I did evacuate and recharge my system early on with my RRR machine as well.

Mine is a 10/19 build, Laramie with the 12" screen. Air conditioning is not acceptable, temp has to be set on LO, run on max and high fan speed to keep from sweating. I was planning on having it looked at when the bed step recall parts come in so just waiting and sweating it out for now. Doesn't sound like there is any reason to get in a hurry since the fix isn't ready yet.

You had a 3rd Gen without blend door failure? That's a miracle!

My 04.5 needed a small charge the past few years and really needed a purge/recharge, but never failed to cool or blend. Then again, it only had 72K miles on it when I sold it in April.

My '05 lost an evaporator, fortunately while it was still under warranty. I was very fortunate to not have the blend door issues that were like the plague. It cooled pretty well while under way, but the fan did not run to keep air moving across the condenser when in traffic, so it would warm up quite a bit until I got moving again. Overall, the '05 was a great truck.

With everything I have had hitting they fan all at once, I haven't made any more progress on a valve install. I did manage to grab a line clamp and clamped off one of the heater core lines. I have noticed a 10* drop in vent temps, as measured in the driver's side center vent. The cab cools off much quicker, actually making it to the comfortable area rather quickly, and the fan does not spend all of it's time blowing its guts out on a 90+* day. It's amazing how much better the cooling performance is when vent temperature drop from 55* to 45*.

I feel this could improve a little more with a valve, as I believe the clamp is not blocking 100% of the flow. But it is blocking enough to see a remarkable difference in the cooling performance of the truck. I really hope @RamCares can provide us an update on the fix in development soon.

I live in Phoenix and it has been 110* +. I can only park outside and it is quite hot when I get in but cools off quickly, usually within a couple of miles its getting comfortable. I have never seen this condensation and I will leave it running when making a quick trip in the store.
However I am always in the mood for better AC in Arizona!

I haven't had any issues with my AC in SoCal right now. I haven't measured the air temp coming out of the vents, but it is cold. The fans kick in high and then go down low pretty quickly and the truck gets comfy. I picked mine up mid June.
