How I Fixed Too Frequent Regen Issue

Getting under the truck I noticed the DEF injector is before the DPF. Is that what people mean when they say a defective DEF spray or DEF system can cause DPF issues require more regen? Does the stuff crystalize into the DPF or something? Has anyone peeked inside to confirm if its a visually evident?

The DEF doser is after the DOC/DPF, and sprays into the inlet of the SCR.

SCR (DEF) has no connection to the DPF

WELL>>>

After the recall and a flash the regens have become totally normal....

BUT>>>

Got the dreaded 150 miles until 5MPH See Dealer...dealer tested fluid and said it was fine but still charged me $215 diagnostic fee even though I have extended MOPAR warranty @RamCares is who I was told to contact regarding filing a claim since I have a warranty?

So fluid is good but I still have a P207F code and dealer just gives me the truck back. Makes zero sense but when I got the truck back the 5MPH warning was gone. 2 days later its back and now Im at 109 miles until 5MPH.

Seems like this dealer does not know diesels. What could it be to trigger a permanent P207F code?

Should I drain and refill the DEF tank? It doesn't seem like theres a convenient way to do that but maybe a thin siphon tube?

Oh and this has seen 2 dealers who have just handed the truck back and said the truck is fine.

What do I do!?

My understanding is that sensor can be exceptionally sensitive. You could try filling up with more def, or draining and filling with new def. The sensor could also be going bad, which can happen. I've also heard of potential SCR failure causing it, but seems like your truck may be a bit new for that, unless you're slamming miles.

Thanks for the tips. I currently have about 59K. Do you know how I can drain the tank? I am happy to do it but I looked around and the only way I can see to drain it would be to remove the sump out the bottom?

I've not done it, just sharing what I've heard.

Under the truck pull the fill tube and siphon from there. No tools needed to unhook the fill tube but be aware if the tank is above 3/4 then you may get wet as the filler tube is not at the top of the tank.

Yes the injector clogs up and the hole it sits in can clog up like totally blocked.

Well I finally got it in to a dealer with a diesel tech...

Some sort of sensor in the DEF tank was bad but the only solution is a new DEF tank. I believe there is a new design DEF tank so the whole thing has to be replaced because that sensor is not serviceable in the old tank? Not sure I have that right but I believe thats what I go out of it all. I won't have a truck for 3 weeks while I wait on the DEF tank to come in but at least someone found the solution to my problem. Now how do I file to get my money back from RAM for the diagnostics fee at the other dealer that was for nothing...
